The mastermind behind Sonic the Hedgehog, Yuji Naka, has revealed on Twitter that he joined Square Enix in January. It’s not apparent what his role is with the company, or what he is working on, but it will be interesting to find out.
Just a quick note to let you know, I joined SQUARE ENIX in January.
I’m joining game development as before, and strive to develop games at SQUARE ENIX.
I aim to develop an enjoyable game, please look forward to it.— Yuji Naka / 中 裕司 (@nakayuji) January 22, 2018
Oh no…
Whoa…
Aww really wanted another NiGHTS. Well the best of luck too him. Really loved his games
What was a giant is now nuts. Farewell SEGA, adieu. Well, I’ve said it a long time ago.
Not sure you needed a whole page just for this. Just a headline that doesn’t go anywhere would suffice, or even have it link to the “tweet”. It’s not like this article adds anything of substance.
News is news. Somebody cares somewhere.
Mastermind?
How so? By making awful games year after year? If that’s the case maybe he is a mastermind.
didn’t he help with forces and mania . . .okay forces was a stretch
*screams in confusion and maybe excitement… contemplating…* XD nah but fr, I love Sonic and Square Enix makes some of my fav games so…
So is this good because he left Sega or bad because he joined Square Enix…. Or the other way around…
…Sonic Chronicles 2 perhaps?
So much for Rodea and Ivy the Kiwi (the only two IPs he put out at Prope).
But seriously, what the hell is going on with Sonic. We need Team Headcannon!Adventure more than ever.
I do not trust Iizuka (and his obsession with 2D, Boost-to-win, and P&G) to deliver.
He did Rodea? No loss for Sega.
This isn’t about SEGA, it’s about Prope.
Regardless, that game’s mechanics weren’t that great imo.
Unless you played the Wii version.
And don’t condemn an entire franchise because of the mechanics of one title.
I got the Wii U & Wii.
Most people do that.if you don’t like your experience, you likely will be hesitant to pick it up again.
There’s always room for improvement.
Look at Yooka-Laylee.
Was he also the Mastermind of 10-15 years worth of garbage Sonic games? If so and they pick Christian Whitehead to head Sonic, good riddance.
Its too sad because if he had continue making Sonic Adventure sequels with a good overworld like Adventure 1 and some elements from Adventure 2, It will sold well.
I’m also curious. Is this good or bad? According to Wikipedia, this isn’t necessarily bad since he hasn’t really been a lead in Sonic games since Sonic & Knuckles. The franchise being mostly trash these days isn’t even his fault in spite of being producer on some games up til 2006 with Sonic Riders.
