Square Enix Says Many Teams In The Company Are Looking To Develop Nintendo Switch Games

Square Enix have been fairly strong supporters of the Nintendo Switch thus far and they are looking to reinforce that support by bringing more high quality titles to the system. Square Enix president Yosuke Matsuda recently spoke to UK publication EDGE and said he was pleased with how the various games they’ve produced have fared on Switch and says more people within the company are looking to create Switch titles.

“They haven’t done badly!” Square Enix president and CEO Yosuke Matsuda explained to EDGE when asked about how the company’s games have fared on Nintendo Switch.

“Obviously it only came out last March, so it hasn’t been long, but of all the publishers who are working on Switch we’ve done quite a few things. It’s a very attractive platform – there are a lot of people within the company that are looking to make games for Switch.”

    1. In the first year we got three games from Square Enix. I Am Setsuna, Lost Sphere, and Dragon Quest Builders. That’s a good start IMO.

How many Square games were in year one of the PS4/Xbox One?

    1. When a new console comes out mid to late gen you’re going to see ports of older games in the early days as these are the games that require the shortest time period to develop. Exclusives and day and date port will take time but I think we will see it.

  1. I know it’ll never happen, but I sometimes still dream that they can team up with Monolith Soft and remake Xenogears. I’d be so happy to experience that game in an updated format with all the good things I’ve heard about it.

  2. Infinite Kalas X3, The Sonyendo King

I already got them on PS4 so I won’t buy them BUT they really should get Life is Strange and it’s prequel, Before the Storm, on Switch. No telling how many Switch owners haven’t experienced it yet.
