Zelda really was an award hoarder this past year. Save some for Mario Odyssey for cryin out loud !
Funny thing is that Odyssey was the only game competing against Breath Of The Wild.
Mario came late and even though it’s a damn solid game, Zelda offered more and made as much of an impact as Odyssey did but first.
Metroid is slowly but surely starting to rise again.
And yet, I don’t see it in the sales chart anymore. They REALLY shouldn’t have pissed off the fans over AM2R.
The “fans” should support the actual franchise if they care so much.
Well thanks to Nintendo’s dumbass arrogant handling on AM2R, the fanbase split up. If you think I’m one of those who didn’t support it, I gave it a chance and beat SR at 100%..twice. I’m still not impressed with the game compare to AM2R and it’s beautiful GBA-like sprites and refreshing gameplay with actual new bosses and shit. SR didn’t bring anything new while it’s art style is blocky and framerate should’ve been 60 on the New 3DS hardware. It was obviously made and rushed as an emergency backup game after FF was being bashed to hell and Nintendo tried like hell to seem like they learned their lesson. They didn’t and it shows with this game. So I say they better not fuck up Prime 4…I mean it.
The guy that made it got hired by Nintendo no?
No, he got hired by..I forgot the studio name and he’s a level designer for Uni. Nintendo lost their chance for having a good Metroid game designer but instead, they rather keep and launch that chibi shit for an anniversary game and think people will eat it up because it’s on a 3DS. Wow that backfired pretty hard, like the Wii U and even Star Fox 64 HD without multiplayer.
Cuphead deserved all the awards it was given. Congrats StudioMDHR!
It was a refreshing experience but it’s a 2D Dark Souls in disguise. XD
Never played dark souls so i wouldn’t know. But when I pick it up on switch i might see what you mean 👀
Dont listen to that idiot, the only thing that they have in common is that they are both difficult games. Nothing alike after that
Cuphead is a 2D platformer.
Dark Souls is a 3D Action RPG.

I knew Zelda was gonna destroy this contest. XD
Congratulations to Metroid: Samus Returns and MercurySteam. They did this game so well that I would like to see them make more Metroid games.
Wow, Zelda and Cuphead stole the show. Though I am very surprised Persona 5 didn’t win best RPG- I only watched a friend play for a few hours and I considered getting a PS4 just for that game, I was so intrigued.
And congrats to Samus Returns and its dev team. I really gotta finish that game…
I highly recommend that unlock all chozo memories. The last memory will surprise you.
I’ve played NieR: Automata and I think it deserves the RPG award. (Honestly, it deserves an award for having a great story that makes you think of the meaning of life and what it means to be human. For some, it might be depressing, though, as it does posit some existential issues that could potentially break a very weak mind.)
Much Nintendo. Glad to see HZD wasn’t ignored.
Awesome stuff. Glad to see Snipperclips and Metroid get some much deserved awards aswell!
Woohoo! NieR: Automata won RPG of the Year! I’d personally give it the best story award, too, for actually making people think about life and being human, etc. Too bad many will shoot the game down for being “too Japanese.” It could have possibly won best story in a lot of award ceremonies outside of Japan if more people gave it a chance.
As for the rest, congrats to Horizon and Zelda: BotW even if I think the latter is way overblown in how good it was. Least now I know how people that feel Ocarina of Time is overblown feel. lol
