We reported earlier today that Nintendo has decided to remove reviews from the eShop despite the feature only being available for a couple of days. Polygon contacted Nintendo America to find out what they’re planning to do and received the following response.
“Nintendo.com recently offered a trial customer review feature to let users share feedback about Nintendo Switch games on our website. The response has been positive, and Nintendo appreciates the time and effort that reviewers put into their thoughtful commentary on the games. Nintendo has removed this feature as we evaluate the future of the ratings functionality on Nintendo.com. We have no estimate on when an update will be provided on the status of this initiative, but we appreciate the enthusiasm shown for the trial.”
Actually, they didn’t really say WHY it was removed, just that it was never really meant to be there in the first place.
My guess is they did it to gauge the reactions to games and the amount of reviews they would receive. More so a test just to collect data to help them make a more educated guess.
All I’m getting out of this is that it was a trial version of what’s to come.
They were testing, nothing more
Makes me wonder if it was only meant to be visible to the site devs and accidentally got pushed to live instead giving them some unexpected data to work with.
A trial? They never even mention a trial of this. I smell bullshit. lol
User reviews are way better than that Nintendo Seal of Quality.
If the Seal of Quality got it’s chance, I think they will still give User Reviews it’s chance… It will return…
After Avengers Infinity War!
