Video: Here’s A 2 Minute Look At Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy On Nintendo Switch

Footage has appeared online of the Nintendo Switch version of Crash Bandicoot ‘N Sane Trilogy on YouTube. The footage is part of the Activision b-roll for the game and it’s looking good. Framerate and resolution have yet to be revealed for the Nintendo Switch version of the game, but we should hear in due course.

      1. Yeah, they had an idea alright: “…..(yawn) let’s port an old PS1 classic with “0” to a lazy at best effort”.

Lmao- look at your neighbors & say “NO F**KS GIVEN whatsoever!”

  1. I did notice something. Why it looks like they removed the fur detail from Crash/Coco? I’m pretty sure the Switch doesn’t need to lose it to run the game. DKC Returns on Wii and TF on Switch both have fur on the DK characters and both games run at 60FPS. I just don’t get it.

    1. Unlike DKTF, this uses physically based rendering which is a type of Deferred rendering. I’m just guessing here but DKTF might use forward rendering which uses less memory bandwidth thus freeing up bandwidth for a fur shader.

Of course, this could just be the result of Crash taking up more of the screen or it could be that they’re using a very different kind of fur shader.

  2. I wonder how the game will do with the loading times. Even on the Ps4 Pro, the load times in the N. Sane Trillogy are awful.

    1. Well with Payday 2 loading 11 seconds faster than PS4 version and even 5 seconds faster than 360, there’s a good chance it’ll have faster loading times thanks to the cartridges.

      1. Switch cartridges have slower max speeds than the HDDs and Blu-ray drives in the PS4 and XBO. The faster load times may be the result of the two version being compared using different updates of the game, HDD fragmentation, or its possible the Switch version was running on internal storage which is faster than the HDDs in the other systems. The other possibility is that the game isn’t loading the data sequentially, in which case the lower latency of the Switch’s cartridge would help out a lot.

          1. Wrong again. Switch’s cartridges have 8 data pins and a 25 Mhz clock meaning they can be read from at a max speed of 25 MB/s and whether or not something loads at this speed is dependant on the type of access. The Blu-ray drive in the PS4 reads at a max speed of 27MB/s at the outer edge of the disk though actual speed is higher because the contents of the Blu-ray or Zlib compresses and then decompressed with hardware decompressor in the disk drive. As a result, something with a 50% compression ratio at the outer edge would be read at 54 MB/s. The 500GB/s hard drives in the PS4 and Xbox read at 110MB/s on the outer edge and about 60 MB/s at the inner edge. The internal eMMC flash memory in the Switch supposedly has a max read of 400 MB/s and the speed of any SD card you use varies from card to card. Looks like most have a max transfer speed of about 100 MB/s now but cheaper ones can be slower.

  3. Yawn. Waiting for the Spyro remasters, because those were actually good games and did not have this level design mess.

    1. The directional path where you can’t turn the camera around going backwards? Yeah, I always hated that part of the design plus the depth perception is wonky.
