Once again, Nintendo has managed to win many awards. The 2018 NAVGTR Awards have recently taken place, resulting in both Super Mario Odyssey and Zelda: Breath of the Wild winning multiple awards. Super Mario Odyssey won “Game Of The Year”. Metroid: Samus Returns also managed to win an award, as well as ARMS. Here is the full list of winners:

I played Horizon and found it incredibly boring as well. Maybe if I played it before Breath Of The Wild I would of felt differently. Doubt it though. If anything my playthrough of BoTw would of felt even more refreashing.
Horizon was such a cookie cutter game from what I played.
Oh well, a lot of people prefer their games like cinematic wannabe movies.
That’s why that BotW wannabe got so forgotten so quickly like every other PS4 installment up at this point. lol

Super Mario Odyssey is one of my favorite games. Amazing it won game of the year. But God of war didn’t make it even by title. I was surprise that Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy won Classic Revival. thanks for the info.

Unpopular opinion: Mario Odyssey is overrated.
Still good. Still 100%’d it. But it’s no BotW. If you lined up BotW, Splatoon 2, Odyssey, and heck even Rabbids Kingdom Battle and told me to pick one to never play, I’d pick Odyssey.

Can someone explain to me what they love about Super Mario Odyssey? Because, from beginning to end, I just wasn’t feeling it. Collecting power moons got super boring after a while.The only good things I can say is, it has great graphics, smooth and responsive controls, multiple outfits (though they don’t do anything special), and Pauline finally being featured in a major Mario title. That’s another thing that’s weird to me. it didn’t FEEL like a major Mario title. The Super Mario Galaxy games amazed me SO much more.
Well, you’re not alone. I think Odyssey is a great game. The level design is fantastic. Everything is so smooth, well designed. The idea is fun. However, it didn’t blow my mind like Mario 64 and Galaxy. 64 created the genre, that kind of 3d platform that many replicated before. I still go 20 years in time and think about the balls nintendo had to go from SM World to 64, from a pure platformer to a game where you return a baby penguin to his mother…and made it amazingly fun. 64 idea was mindblowing. And Galaxy, for me, is pure perfection. Odyssey still an amazing title. But overrated.
I feel of the bunch of games that came out last year for the Switch, Splatoon 2 is the most underrated. That game is pure energy… It should have a place on Thanos glove… Cos it’s an infinity gem… You can play it forever.

Its sad how the mighty fall. Gran Turismo used to mean quality, inovation, it used to pushed boundaries. Now… it just tries to catch up.
