A Debug Code For Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door Has Been Discovered

Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door will be 14 years old later this year. However, that doesn’t mean that all of the game’s secrets have been found. In fact, Twitter user PistonMiner has discovered that the game has a debug mode that can be enabled in the game. To do so, you need to “press XBRBYL on the title screen”. You can “confirm by holding Z on the main menu to show the date the game was built”. Here’s PistonMiner’s tweet, which explains more:

      1. There was a poll on the Japanese Club Nintendo asking fans what they liked about the game, a lot said they really liked the gameplay and most of them said the story was their least favorite aspect of the game. This is basically what inspired Tanabe to make adjustments to the series to make it turn to what it did today, Shigeru Miyamoto’s philosophy on stories adding almost nothing to the enjoyment of games didn’t help matters much either.

It’s ironic if you think about it, they took the opinions of a very small amount and didn’t bother asking international fans what they thought before making a decision. Even when there’s massive backlash where the majority of the longterm fans don’t like the direction the series took, they will continue to listen to the opinions of a few from a decade than opinions of the vast majority ever since Sticker Star.

  1. Bet we won’t get a remaster until at least 14 years later….

Hell, where’s that Paper Mario: TTYD HD that was almost promised 2 years ago when GameXplain had an interview with the developer of Color Splash? I guess Color Splash didn’t sell as enough to consume interest in a TTYD remaster. Hell, the Switch has been out for a year. Where is my port? I want to play it on the go without taking the cords and GameCube with me.

  2. 14 years ago… wow. TTYD is one of my favorite games of all time and arguably the best Paper Mario game (the only one even close to it is PM64). I really wish they would’ve keep the series on this track and continued to improve and expand upon what they had built in the first two…
