NPD data for the month of March 2018 has been released. This month includes the release of Kirby Star Allies, so we are getting our first information on how the game did. According to The NPD Group, “Kirby Star Allies has had the strongest debut month of sales in the U.S. in the franchises’ history. The Switch side-scroller had a 90 percent better debut month than 2002’s Kirby Nightmare in Dreamland, which last held that distinction”. The success of the Nintendo Switch is credited for the game’s success, saying that it has been “giving Nintendo’s franchises a boost”.

  1. Oh wow. Now I wish it would’ve been a better game for all those who are new to the series. It’s not a bad game, but it’s definitely not the best Kirby game in my opinion. It felt too short and lacked meaningful collectibles. I still enjoyed it though, just not as much as superstar or RTD.

    1. After playing this kirby I gta say I’m just not a Kirby guy anymore lol its just too simple I used to love it back in the snes days but can’t find much enjoyment anymore. I’m gna make it my go to game for quick bursts and eventually finish it that way

      1. That’s what everybody says and write, it’s just too easy and it is it. I’m still playing it trying to finish the Hero adventure and for now I did 3 hero in compares to 24? (I don’t remember the number of partners in this game)

    2. I agree with most of your statements. The game is short, I beat it in just 5 hours (And I got every secret piece of puzzle).
Even if is short I still think there will be some secret by doing the ??? Hero challenge and the arena with every character.

The abilities are ok and combining the weapon with an element reminds me Kirby 64 sort of.

I think every review I saw is ok. 7/10 is a good game

      1. The original Kirby game can be beaten in like 10 minutes. Kirby games were never really long. It’s about as long as the 3DS game imo. Anyone thinking they can program Kirby 64 style combos + KSS movesets would cause HAL labs to explode from that programming. I think they found a solid and doable middle ground to that idea that’s still pretty fun imo. They’ve been adding more puzzles and characters with the Updates and there are still 2 more updates with god knows what in the horizon. So it’s not done yet. Right now Marx, Gooey, and the Animal friends do have their own level designs for their campaigns.

I feel like this game is on the same level of all the recent ones. If anyone is on the fence out there but loved the other titles, you’ll just like this one too.

        1. In fact I love this game and I think making the game short is a strategy to let you play the game again in the future. I love this Kirby game and I still have to do all the levels with all the helpers

I hope the next DLC there is that double face of Magalor

  2. I’m so happy to hear this. I was worried all the bad publicity would hurt sales.

Kirby going strong always brightens my day. :)

  3. Odd given I dont think this kirby game was that well done. I mean I’m new to the series after playing the Wii ones. But this one did shine with its multiplayer and nostalgic roots. But do wish it was longer. But I’m happy it’s doing well!! Hopefully we get maybe a port of Kirbys Triple Deluxe or Robobot

  4. What an amazing trend of Switch games all selling better than previous installments. Gives me hope for Prime 4.
