To celebrate the 30th Anniversary of the Mega Man franchise Capcom and iam8bit have got together to produce Mega Man 2 – 30th Anniversary Classic Cartridge and Mega Man X – 30th Anniversary Classic Cartridge, brand-new and fully playable on NTSC consoles. Each game is a limited edition of 8,500 units and comes in one of two available colours.
These brand new, limited edition reproductions are now available for pre-order on iam8bit.com for $100 each. Units are expected to ship late September 2018.

$100 each? damn that price is all that’s holding me back. I still own the originals so I don’t see any real reason to get this other than it being a collectible. I think I’ll pass. :/
$100 for a reproduction cart of games that are easily available and nothing else? Generally speaking you can get repro carts for around $30 unless it’s a game that takes a lot of memory like an rpg. I am all for physical carts and I really like the idea of official repro rereleases of classic games, but why would you pick ones that are cheaper to get authentic carts for? Why not Earthbound, or Ninja Gaiden Trilogy, or the Japanese version of Super Mario Bros. 2?
I am exactly the target audience for this kind of thing and I just can’t imagine why I would spend that much money on this product. I got Mega Man 2, X1, X2, and X3 in authentic cartridge all for less than $100 combined. (buy the japanese carts for the X series guys, a few lines of untranslated text saves you a hundred dollar each)
100 for the two as a pkg would’ve been a better price point IMO. Pass.

As much as I like Megaman (with Megaman X being my favorite) this is too expensive. I think they should drop the price of each of these games to $40 at least.
They wanted to remind everyone of that wonderful game company, Wisdom Tree (also known as Bunch Games and Color Dreams) by making the Mega Man 2 cartridge sky blue. I can still see that super strong Noah. Carrying several cows, oxen, pigs, lions, monkeys etc. over his head. Ahh….memories.
But in all seriousness, SCREW THIS CRAP! I have the original cartridges of these. And who in their right minds would pay $100 for two common games? If I was going to fork over that much money on a game, I’d use it on some of the last 14 licensed NES games that I don’t have. Though some of those are even higher than $100.
