EA recently held their financial conference call for the fourth quarter of the 2018 fiscal year. There, Chief Financial Officer Blake Jorgensen discussed what the company expects from console sales by the end of the 2018 calendar year. Jorgensen expects the combined install base of the Xbox One and Playstation 4 to “continue to be strong” and reach 130,000,000 units by the end of 2018. As for the Switch, Jorgensen says that EA is expecting the Switch to “have built an installed base of over 30 million by December 21st, 2018”.
That’s a really specific date…, but I hope the Switch install base will have a large number of players by the end of the year. I think that’ll be awesome to see.
It is not very specific at all, it is the last weekday before Christmas.
Which likely, when talking about the video game market and releases, means before this years end…
Which makes the date specific then since it has significance. Also, I mainly meant specific in terms of the day. They could have just said December which brings up a lot of days to be considered.
In this context “By December 21’st” simply means “before the end of the year”…
You fail to convince me that there is any specific date of importance being spoken of.
Sweden boi, youre saying an individual day isnt specific….. I mean firstly youre wrong it is litterally a specific date, its as specific as a date can be. But like it was an innocent little comment, no need to be a weeaboo about it bro. Chill, don’t be so condescending bro haha
Saying “On day X” is different than saying “Before day X”. The former is specific, and the second is not particularly so.
The fact that I need to clarify this to you is not me being condescending, it is you insulting your own intelligence…
Well, the 21st is probably the last working business day before the holiday, where they’ll tally the last numbers until they get back to work after the new year. So yes, it’s the end of the business year from their perspective, but I worked retail during college and can tell you for certain that alot of shoppers wait until the last weekend to buy their gifts, a very large percentage. Especially if they get paid on the 21st. So their sales numbers from the holidays will be a bit misleading depending on how they look at sales. If they tally sales to department stores , then their year is over. But if they track Switch Activations via the internet, then christmas day will show a little more.
EA is saying this? I wonder why they won’t support Nintendo then. They seem to like the success of the switch
There is a chance Burnout is on it but they haven’t announced it yet. Unlike other games where EA said variations of “lol no” they never denied that one.
EA also expected to make more out of Battlefront 2.
I don’t trust EA’s ability to anticipate anything
They also expected removing loot box dependency to not affect their revenue out of the game.
Ouch! Glad that one bit them, though.
Hm well if we actually get something good this summer maybe? (Animal Crossing for the Switch)
I don’t want to hear it from a company who still refuses to support Nintendo.
This coming from the company who made battlefront 2(1.6)…… We dont need you, keep your loot boxes,
EA loves the number 30
130m? I doubt that as PS4 is around 73m right now & Microsoft is still too chickenshit to mention their Xbox One sales. I will give them their Switch expectations, though. Some are hoping Nintendo will sell more than 30m, though. At the pace it’s going, I want to say more than 30m myself.
||Typefault…||
Xbox One sales have actually picked up compared to this time last year…. Mostly due to Xbox One X and PUBG
Yeah I doubt it.
#FuckEA
Let’s say it has, and let’s say 20% buys the annual membership for 20 EUR.
6 million x 20 EUR = 120 million EUR. For that kind of money they could arrange some pretty darn good game servers.
I don’t care about EA
And my dreams are trying to believe that the leak about Star Fox is real. I just dreamed the announce of the new Star Fox game on the Switch.
I give some hope for that leak…
How cute, EA still thinks we care about what they think.
I just wish they would release any game from the Dragon Age series on the Switch…
NHL on the go please and thank you
