We are all anxiously waiting to see what shape the first main Pokemon title for the Nintendo Switch will take. Nintendo insider Emily Rogers has information on the title and has shared it on her blog. She says that the game will be revealed this month which is just before E3 which takes place next month in Los Angeles. She says that the team has take inspiration from the immensely popular Pokemon GO for mobile devices.
Emily, you said there’s a Pokemon title releasing on Switch in 2018. What should we expect from it?
“In July 2016, Pokémon Go launched, and became a massive phenomenon, having been downloaded more than 500 million times worldwide by the end of that year. Then, by 2017, overall download numbers increased to over 750 million a year. This all leads to a much bigger question: What lessons should Game Freak and Nintendo learn from Pokémon Go’s success? How could Switch benefit from Pokémon Go’s success, and how could Pokémon Go benefit from Switch’s success?
After all, it was Nintendo who released “Pokémon Go Plus”, a bluetooth wearable device, developed by Nintendo’s Platform Technology Division, that allows players to enjoy the game without looking at their smartphone. Would Nintendo ever dare to create more Pokémon Go accessories like that — possibly even for the Switch?
Joe Merrick, the creator of Serebii.net, once wrote an article on Nintendo Life titled “What Pokémon Go and the Pokemon series could learn from each other.”

This is a good test of her credibility, because it’s actually specific and not an easy prediction like revealing it at E3 would be. If this is right, she’s at least not just making stuff up.

I feel like she’s a mixed bag. Like she hears things from people but she just says them whether or not she can verify people’s credibility. That’s why she ends up being right sometimes and then wrong others. I don’t think she makes things up, but I do think she just spews out whatever she hears…
Emily is strongly hinting to me that the Pokémon games we should expect to see on Switch this year *are not* the main series Pokémon games that are also in development for Switch. The naming/branding is going to raise eyebrows? Are these games going to have “Go” in the title or am I taking everything she said too literally?

I don’t think we will see more information on the new pokemon game for switch at e3 or this month. Emily rogers is just saying shit, we don’t even know how long it’s been in development.
If Nintendo still intends to release it this year it pretty much has to be shown either before or at E3. Now, I’m not fan of Emily Rogers and think she’s pulling this out from where the sun doesn’t shine, but I’d say what she’s doing is making the safest guesses you can make to rebuild credibility with the gullible. Heck. Just a couple days ago she was rewording exactly what we were told by Nintendo about the game last year at E3 and people were getting all excited as if it was some new info. Now this bundle of vagueness that has very little chance of being wrong. As someone else said “and water is wet”. The only reason they’d have to not show it before or during E3 is if they delay it into 2019. And a pre-E3 announcement makes more sense for Pokemon because Nintendo probably would like this series to enjoy the undivided attention of the gaming community as opposed to having to share it with every other game announcement. Plus that lets them get away with showing more of it off without taking up too much time in their E3 Direct.
Also remember Pokemons direct usually appear at the “end of May and Begining June” and the “End of October and Begining November”. She isnt even trying.
That’s where you’re wrong. Like I said above, we don’t know how long the game it’s been in development so don’t expect Nintendo to give new information on it at e3 or before e3.
lego293: The fact that we don’t know the length of the development doesn’t mean N won’t give us any information at E3, do not forget that they gave us information last year even though the game was obviously in early development.
Not really bothered about all these leaks and rumours so close to E3. We’ll no what’s true or not in a few weeks.
Man it’s taken forever for the first screens of these New Pokemon Games to be shown off. E3 is only less than a month away, what we have expected is it to be shown off before then sometime, that’s how things were with Previous Pokemon, having their first screens before E3. I completely disagree with anyone who believes that this may actually be restarting the Franchise from the top, there’s 808 Pokemon right now and there’s good Routines of the franchise that should not be gone with. There’s even lots more Pokemon that are waiting to be seen of that were dying to see of, such as the New Regions mascot and starters.
This person bothers me. If she’s not credible, it’s annoying to act as though she is. If she is, someone is violating an NDA somewhere down the line for her to get information. Frankly, if she was credible enough, Nintendo would take legal action. They’re not fans of their surprises being blown and that’s enough to tell me that she’s BSing. I’ve been close to folk in the industry, worked on a fan site with a buddy who later ended up programming for some big studios. I’ve signed NDAs for them when I’d visit. I’d never dream of spreading info like this.
The biggest red flag is the way she argues for her own credibility. She revels in the attention and cares that people think she’s a legitimate source: just look at her blog where she’s discussing the Star Fox rumors. Actually, don’t.
All that said, if Game Freak goes more in the direction of Pokemon Go than say, Breath of the Wild, I hope the IP dies out.
The reason why companies don’t take legal action is because the leakers themselves aren’t violating NDA, the one who violates it is the source inside the company and these sources are really careful, so companies cannot find them and therefore there is no-one to be take legal actions against.
But if she or the others are leaking info. 100% Nintendo and Gamefreaks will shutdown their sites and leaks in a instant. For me this is like Eurogamer Pokemon Stars all over again.
Nintendo doesn’t have any right to shutdown their sites. Even though she is leaking information, she only says what someone else told her, the one that is violating law is the source of her information as I already wrote.
Oh I know. It’s akin to if my friend told me something he was working on and then I went and blabbed. He violated and NDA that I may not have signed, but it can sometimes bounce back to the original source, even if I’m not the one getting in trouble. And making yourself a public face about it and dropping big, accurate details could get someone interested in sealing the leak.
Still the more steps away you get (so and so told this person who told that person who told me), the harder it is to stop but the more likely it is to be bull. So you’re right, she’s probably a ways down the chain from an NDA, which is why she makes unreliable claims, and why news sites need to just ignore her.
