US: Legendary New Nintendo 2DS XL System Coming Exclusively To GameStop Stores 2nd Of July 2018

Every legendary hero needs a shield, just like every legendary gamer needs a video game system that lookslike a shield! Launching exclusively in GameStop stores on July 2 at a suggested retail price of $159.99, the special edition New Nintendo 2DS XL Hylian Shield Edition system resembles Link’s iconic Hylian Shield from The Legend of Zelda series, and comes pre-loaded with the critically acclaimed adventure The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds.

The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds is a sequel to the beloved Super NES game The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past. In this follow-up, Link must once again save the kingdom of Hyrule from an evil force by transforming into a living painting and crossing into a dark parallel world. Conquer puzzles, traps and hidden rooms of deadly dungeons to save both worlds from certain doom!

New Nintendo 2DS XL plays the entire library of Nintendo 3DS games in 2D. With two large screens and built-in amiibo support, it’s the ideal portable system for any type of gamer – especially ones looking to dive into The Legend of Zelda series for the first time.

  1. Oh fuck that’s sexy.

I guess it’s plain to see that Nintendo’s pushing the 2DS over the 3DS more and more. The last new 3DS was the Samus one (proud owner).

      1. I’ve got the red original, the Majora’s Mask XL, and the Metroid Samus Returns XL. I really don’t need another. Would be nice to have, but I really don’t need it

  2. Why Nintendo ?? Why you preinstall games and not just include the cart ? I still need to play a link between worlds and thought this will be perfect… I have a standard 3ds but thought I’d like an XL and thought this would be perfect. I want a physical cart of the game however ….. (first world problems 😅)

      1. Guess you will be quitting gaming within the next five years then, because like it or not digital is the wave of the future and one way or another it will take over; it’s not a matter of if it’s when. All technology becomes obsolete eventually and you either keep up with the new or you get left behind. Some people still cling to their VCRs and CD players, you will join their archaic ranks stubbornly someday and miss the future and all the fantastic innovations it will bring all because people like you can’t adapt.

Yeah except digital is not a freaking upgrade to physical format in a quality sense. VHS to DVD to Blu-Ray, you are getting better quality. Physical to digital is not an upgrade, its an alternate means to acquire media. Physical media, especially for games, is not going anywhere any time soon. In fact, there are even more physical releases coming out now then on the last generation of systems, especially now that its becoming cheaper for more indie devs and small publishers to do them. But yeah, enjoy your vision of the future if you want where companies control all access to the games and other media you want and can alter and remove their availability whenever they are no longer generating a profit or a license agreement is up.

    1. Such a rip-off,. they can only get away with it because it’s a gamestop exclusive. i backed off when I saw that the cheapest shipping option is $20, No thanks! There is no store pick-up option either.

      1. Nintendo probably had a condition in their exclusivity clause saying that the item must be set at MSRP———- so GamStop raised the shipping costs, instead!!!!!!!! HOW SCUMMY IS THAT??????????!

  3. That looks sooo nice. It’s so tempting but I dont need it. I have the Ocarina 3DS, LBW 3DS XL and MM NN3DSXL. But this one does look really really nice.

  4. *jaw drops* That is so fucking awesome! So awesome that this thing will be a total BITCH to get a hold of. I wish GameStop allowed in-store data transfers so I can trade in my galaxy style n3DS to get some money off of this bad boy. I’d gladly move on to the n2DS (and drop 3D) for this sucker. The only downside: Link Between Worlds is pre-installed so a system transfer would screw you out of the free game. That & I already got Link Between Worlds digitally. A code inside that lets you download the game would be a much better option. But least this way they can screw you out of the free game. And also keep you from selling the code to a friend if you already got the game.

  5. Curse you Nintendo and my undying love for Zelda. I already have both Zelda 3DS.

I guess the 5yo needs a non-3D system so she’s not tempted in losing her vision.
