More Details On Team Sonic Racing For Nintendo Switch

We were all looking forward to the reveal of Team Sonic Racing but the teaser video didn’t really do much for the fans because it didn’t really reveal anything about the karting title. SEGA released a press release yesterday which contains a little bit more information about the game which is set to debut on the Nintendo Switch this winter.

  1. Calling it now, the teams are:

Team Sonic: Sonic (speed), Tails (technique), Knuckles (power)

Team Dark: Shadow (speed), Rouge (technique), Omega (power)

Team Rose: Amy (speed), Cream (technique), Big (power)

Team Eggman: Eggman (power), Metal Sonic (speed), Infinite (technique)

Team Chaotix: Espio (speed), Vector (power), Charmy (technique)

I would also enjoy- nay, prefer- to see a team comprised of characters from other outlying sections of the Sonic universe (maybe, I dunno, certain characters from an alternate dimension or from the future?)

So, Team Outliers: Blaze (power, Silver (technique), and Sticks (speed)

I’m also quite certain DLC teams will be a thing, like the Babylon Rogues or other forgotten characters perhaps.

    1. I don’t think that Big will appear. After all the backlash, including his own English voice actor purposely forgetting how to make his voice and all…

In Sonic Free Riders, Vector was filling up for him. Dunno about this game, though. Maybe Marine can fill it up as the Power character.

I wouldn’t guarantee a Team Eggman, too. Eggman could be a standalone character, or, at least, teaming up with Eggman-Nega, and, maybe, Metal Sonic. I’m thinking on a “Team Deadly Six” with Zavok (power), Zeena (technique), and Zazz (speed).

About the “Team Alternate Universe” and the “Team Babylon Rogues”, I completely agree.

And that is not counting characters like Mighty, Ray, Bean, Bark, Fang… The possibilities are neverending.

      1. I feel like Big will be back since he was in the first SaSASR on that green moped vehicle. I think he was left out of Riders because he would not feasibly fit on a board. Just my thought process.

I’m almost convinced (and really hoping) Infinite will appear- there was a lot of hype for him before they completely botched his story and origins in Forces, he needs another chance.

      2. Maybe so, but I wouldn’t hold my breath. I can see even Gamna and Emerl before him. But there’s always DLC.

The Sonic cast is HUGE, now that I think on it.

      3. Indeed, though some characters have better chances than others. Still, the roster could use more villains- usually the only playable bad guy is Eggman and sometimes Metal. Infinite would fit the bill perfectly, not only as another villain but also part of an actual Team Eggman as he’s the first villain to work with Eggman and *not betray* him.

  2. In addition, I’m hoping it isn’t like how they pulled stages for the first Sonic and SEGA All-Stars Racing where there were three courses based on Seaside Hill, Casino Park, and Final Fortress, all from Sonic Heroes. It looks like we’re getting a Planet Wisp stage, but I want to see courses in stages we haven’t seen in forever, like Star Light Zone from Sonic 1, Ice Cap Zone from Sonic 3, Twinkle Park from Sonic Adventure, Hidden Base/Sand Ocean from SA2, Huge Crisis from Sonic Rush, maybe Radical Train from 06…

    1. As for the courses, I’m thinking on:

Sonic 1 – Green Hill (duh)
Sonic 2 – Chemical Plant, although an Oil Ocean course would be rad.
Sonic 3 – Hidrocity, Lava Reef
Sonic Mania – Press Garden, Mirage Saloon
      Sonic Adventure – Speed Highway
Sonic Adventure 2 – Metal Harbor, Pyramid Cave
      Sonic Heroes – the usual
Sonic 06 – Tropical Jungle, Kingdom Valley
      Sonic Unleashed – Windmill Isle
Sonic Rush & Adventure – Water Palace, Coral Caves (IIRC)
Sonic Colors – we have Planet Wisp, but Asteroid Coaster would be rad too

      1. Personally, I would enjoy seeing Hang Castle from Heroes be a track- there’s a lot they could do with the gravity-flipping mechanic the original stage used. I guess that could work for a Crazy Gadget track based on SA2…

Never played Rush Adventure so can’t comment on that one.

If they were to pull another area from Colors, I would hope it’s Sweet Mountain- even for a Sonic game, that world was way out there.

  3. Are they getting rid of transformations? That was one of the two things that really set this game apart from Mario Kart (the other being its diverse cast, but now that’s gone), so if they are really gone that will be unfortunate.
