The hard-working team over at Digital Foundry have confirmed what we all suspected and that is Hyrule Warriors: Definitive Edition running in handheld mode on the Nintendo Switch actually super-samples from 1080p, rather than actually dropping the resolution. The team also says that Hyrule Warriors: Definitive Edition has big performance advantages over the original on the Wii U, but it’s not as great as it could have been. So it’s confirmed that the Switch is using Nvidia’s Modern Tech :D
This might also mean if the Switch sees an upgrade, we could see Super-Sampled 4K down to 1080p :3
It will demand 4 times the pixle count. Got to have SLI to run Switch games in that resolution, if it’s possible in the near future.

Hmm… Pascal didn’t exsist in 2015 and Super-Sampling haven’t had any new development the last 20 years or so. But no doubt Switch have a highly advance scaling method, yeah.

I said if the Switch gets an Upgraded version we could see 4k Visuals that are Super-Sampled in 1080p on the Switch Pro model. Why do you guys never read the comment before you reply?
It’s highly unlikely that Switch will have a 4K handheld scaler. It literally needs a minimum 4x faster GPU and a CPU too match it. X1 isn’t the best out there, but it will be hard to pass it that far anytime soon, at least without SLI. And power consumption for something like that on the go will be quite hefty as well.

Yeah, but Switch still does run on handheld hardware even when docked. X1 scores 3150 points in Sling Shot Extreme, and since the Switch’s X1 is downclocked to a 3/4 of a stock one, we can just assume that Switch would score 2360 points, and that’s the score which makes HW run 1080p downscaling. A Snapdragon 845 gets 4260 (which are one of the more stronger chips). That’s not even doubled power. 4K SS will need about 4x X1’s performance. We will have to wait a while unless they use SLI, but I doubt that will happen anytime soon.
