Ridley Confimed As New Playable Character For Super Smash Bros. Ultimate

Following various rumours in the Super Smash Bros. community, the draconian Metroid villain Ridley was officially confirmed during the Nintendo E3 Direct. Super Smash Bros. Ultimate director Masahiro Sakurai revealed more details about Ridley – whose biggest appearances are in Metroid Prime and Super Metroid – during the Nintendo Treehouse stream in a Ridley versus Mario match.

In true villainous fashion, Ridley uses his raw power to beat his enemies into the ground, or uses his tail in a beautifully purple sweeping attack. Requested time and time again by Smash fans, Ridley’s attacks can cause massive amounts of damage depending on the angle you hit your enemy. He’s also able to breathe fire, of course, with his Final Smash allowing him to blast a fellow character into space, pin them against Samus’ ship and obliterate them with a fiery explosive attack.

Sakurai later added that as the game is still in development, Ridley’s sweet spot, amongst other playable characters, may be subject to change.

  1. I’m going to pretend they didn’t add Waluigi because they didn’t want to show that he’s the same height as Ridley now.

      1. You missed the part when they showed just how big Ridley is if you make him stand up straight. And looks like a texture hacked Charizard? *looks at Charizard then looks at Ridley*looks at Charizard again then back to Ridley again* … I don’t see what you’re seeing. But whatever. To each his/her own.

Now they may add Dark Samus or Sylux. If Dark Samus, she’ll obviously be a echo character of Samus. Sylux has a lesser chance of being an echo character of Samus, though, so I don’t know. He might be a more original character to add to Smash over Dark Samus.
