  1. got that version for iOS but it reminded me again, how Tim Schafer is especially a great audiovisual designer and not necessarily someone who’s great at creating adventure mechanics. Grim Fandango might have one of the best presentations in video game history with that mix of art nouveau, mexico and aztec designs, amazing jazz sounds … jesus, it’s just one hell of a beautifully crafted experience. But the riddles are just frustrating af. Just like in the case of Broken Age, Thimbleweed Park shows who was the mind behind old lucasarts adventures riddles (the answer is: Ron Gilbert)

    1. That wasn’t my experience with these. I never finished Grim Fandango when I was a kid, but my wife and I played through Grim and Broken Age together without much frustration. It did help having two sets of eyes working, but I found the Grim Fandango puzzles to be brilliant. Full Throttle had a couple trickier spots, and I remember accusing my dad of calling the hint line to solve one thing in particular, but I did finish that as a kid.

But yeah, of all the Lucas Arts adventures, Full Throttle and Grim Fandango (and Sam and Max, but that wasn’t Schafer or Gilbert) were my favorites by far.
