Game Informer has published an interview today with Nintendo of America president Reggie Fils-Aime during which they discussed a number of topics. One of the questions that was asked is whether Nintendo will have enough Switch stock heading into the autumn which is when Pokemon: Let’s Go! Pikachu and Let’s Go! Eevee and Super Smash Bros Ultimate launch for the system. Here’s his response.
With Super Smash Bros. Ultimate hitting this holiday, let’s talk about hardware. Switch is still selling like mad. Are you going to be sending out more during the holiday [to meet demand]?
“Absolutely. Our goal as a business is to drive momentum and create excitement to get people who have heard about the hardware, but haven’t yet bought it, to jump in. Our biggest failure is when the consumer goes to the shelf and it isn’t there. We’re focused on making sure the supply chain is going to be robust. As we sit here today, we are highly confident that we are going to be able to meet the demand. Part of what we do is to try to drive demand as high as possible, and to therefore drive our business as strong as possible.”

Valkyria Chronicles is coming out on the Switch at the same time as the others and I’m excited for that. Mario Party is in October. Tennis just happened, Octopath soon. Starlink could surprise us all and not be terrible. The sky isn’t falling.
Just make sure there’s enough Smash Amiibo

Well I don’t think we’re seeing any new titles. He’s talking about making sure the hardware supply chain is prepared for the Smash/Pokemon/Christmas bomb that’s about to drop on the stores. Gotta keep those Switches on the shelves.
It’s a good job some third party’s have jumped on board. Even though there is a lot of ports from some of these.
I don’t play the Pokémon games or smash brothers so there’s pretty much nothing coming from Nintendo for me until next year.
Most of my anticipated games for the next year are third party’s.

Got 220 bucks saved up. I’m thinking it might be a good idea to buy a Switch next month BEFORE September. Need to call up Nintendo about unlinking my account from my lost Switch so I can connect it to the new one when I get it and hopefully redownload BotW, XC2, FEW, & SMO.
Shit! I seriously need to quit spending so much time on the internet so I can work through my massive backlog on PS4. Especially the Kingdom Hearts games because I need to prep for KH3 in January ’19 so I can start playing that as soon as possible. The Kingdom Hearts games & Xenoblade Chronicles 2 will take priority over everything else once I finish up Sonic Forces & FFXV.
The Internet is the biggest time eater on Earth, I know.
They must be making sure that the supply chain is robust for the NES Classic this time as well. After all the heck I went through on Friday, trying to secure my purchase of getting my second one (and one for my brother), I went to town again the next day and saw a bunch of NES Classics at every store I visited. It was an amazing sight. First time I’ve ever seen those in most stores. But I sure never see the Super NES Classic anywhere. My brother still wants a second one of those.
