Pokemon GO Has Made $1,800,000,000 In Player Spending & Is Still Making $70,000,000 Per Month

Pokemon GO is still going. In fact, SensorTower has released some new data on the game that tells us that it is also seeing more success. Today is the game’s 2nd anniversary, and SensorTower says “while the fervor has subsided in the 24 months since that game-changing day, players worldwide continue to spend more than $2 million per day. This has led to the game reaching $1.8 billion in player spending, having crossed the $1 billion milestone in January 2017”.

What is also amazing is that the game is, once again, showing up in charts. SensorTower says that “it remains a top 10 app by revenue, ranking at No. 9 overall for the month of June, when it grossed an estimated $70 million worldwide. As of today, the game is in the App Store’s top 10 grossing charts on 21 countries, including the U.S., Great Britain, Germany, and Canada. It’s No. 14 on Japan’s top grossing iPhone app chart”.

As for the game’s revenue, a chart can be seen down below. SensorTower explains that “the United States and Japan lead all-time player spending in the game, accounting for 34 and 28 percent of its revenue across the App Store and Google Play, respectively. Germany, Great Britain, and Taiwan round out its top first countries at 5 percent, 4 percent, and 3 percent of revenue, respectively”. Lastly, SensorTower says that “Google Play has accounted for the largest portion of Pokémon GO’s revenue at 58 percent, with the App Store making up the remaining 42 percent of spending”.

  1. This is why Nintendo is going ahead with the Pokémon Go games on the switch that’s an insane amount of money to pass on.

    1. Can’t say for sure, but Google takes 30%. And Nintendo does almost have 50% ownership in the Pokémon Company. So let’s say Niantic Takes 50% of the cake, that means Nintendo gets 10% of 1,800,000,000. Which is 180 millions before tax probably.

      1. Actually, last I heard Ninty has a 33.33 % stake in Pokemon, it’s equally devided between Creature inc, and Game Freak. Even with that, 2 years ago when Niantic reported making 600 million off of the game, Nintendo got a 115 million slice. I’m guessing they do own part of Niantic after that 20 some million they gave Niantic before partnering up. So the overall takeaway from Nintendo is about 19%

          1. Im always weary about that partnership though, something tellse that Nintendo also owns parts of Creature (since creature was also co started with Iwata, before he was president) the whole partnership is sketchy though lol but yeah man, np.

            1. You never know, I do agree with you. But I don’t know about Japanese nor American law, but I’m pretty sure that in Norway you’re obligated to show ownership of a company.

              1. I’m not to versed on ownership laws to be honest, but it wouldn’t surprise me if they were about the same 🤔 that 19% came out of somewhere though, that’s for sure. This Pokemon ownership question comes up at least twice a year in this site 😂 and we never get anywhere.

                1. Haha, I’ll try to dig something up. I might only have a Norwegian Law-degree, but it can’t be that hard to read up about this… *looking up USA’s laws*
                  Fffffff–

        1. BTW! It isn’t long before we’re getting some Monster Hunter World PC news! I’ll keep you updated on the performance difference between Doom and MHW to make an educated guess on the topic of “Can MHW run on Switch” — as promised.

          1. Oh yeah about that, yeah keepe updated. Something tellse it could, but it’s Capcom and they have gone the lazy/safe route as of late. But yeah, keep me updated.
