Super Smash Bros Ultimate For Nintendo Switch Estimated To Take Up Roughly 16GB Of Space

We have still got a while to wait for the long-awaited next entry in the Super Smash Bros franchise, Super Smash Bros Ultimate on the Nintendo Switch. Nintendo has published on its website that the game takes up an estimated 16GB of space. Of course, as previously mentioned, the game isn’t out until December so more fine tuning will be done on the file size. We will get a clearer picture nearer release, which is December 7th.

    1. Bandana Dee is plain and boring. If you want another kirby rep Marx would be a million times more interesting.

    2. Deatstroke mercenary

Not funny and just because of that, I think a report is on order. for spreading misinformation.

  1. Wow, makes me glad I just preordered the physical copy. (Partly because somehow Amazon was offering it for 15 bucks off. Hate Amazon but I’ll gladly save 15 bucks!) It’s funny because I didn’t care about owning any physical games for my Wii U. (Only owned one) But with not having to worry about disc scratches, and the possibility of loaning games I like to friends, I’m kinda of enjoying buying carts again. Also helps that I don’t have a terribly big SD card. I plan on getting a bigger one eventually but I know with every day they come down in price.

    1. “But with not having to worry about disc scratches”

That hasn’t been much of a serious concern since the 360 and Wii. Modern discs, starting with the PS3’s Blu Rays, have such a thick chemical coating on the disc that unless you’re letting a toddler play with it, virtually anything that happens to it can get buffed out.

    1. Yeah they have picked up on that horrible trend.. and they botched it so hard in the zelda dlc, they were so bad it makes me angry.

  2. I’m still debating on whether or not to get the physical copy or download the digital one. I like the idea of being able to load Smash Brothers at anytime.

    1. Easy solution: have a Switch carrying case that has cartridge slots! :) This way you can save SD space and still have easy access to the game whenever you wish!

However, if you’re the kind of person who likes things to be as convenient as possible, and you like My Nintendo Points, get it digitally.

      1. I didn’t even think of that. I might go that route because I love traveling with the Switch. It makes flights so much more entertaining.

        1. I have a Mario-themed one I got for like $15-$20. It’s great. I can fit all my games, and of course the Switch itself, along with a cleaning wipe thing.

    1. Just stop with this nonsense, we didn’t get Rex from xenoblade, nor Okami or Monser Hunter char. What a joke.
It’s just a lazy cash grab port and morons all gonna hype is up at max because they are afraid of the truth.

It’s like these people who keep screaming out loud because they can’t handle the truth nor want to hear it.

Just stop with his nonsense and grown up, we have all the power and you stupid hypers keep making these companies lazy because they never punished in sales.

  3. Since Daisy is in Smash then Chuggaaconroy can finally live out his fantasy by doing Daisy on Hard and it should be inside her Heart Shaped Box.

    1. Don’t know about that. While the game looks great, I can’t say the textures does look that dense, so 30GB with another developer sounds exaggerated. Ofc ofc I know you don’t mean exact numbers, just using it as an expression.
Hard to tell how big the size could have been otherwise and how much they’ve compromised the game, but I do agree 15GB sounds like reasonable good job.

    2. They managed to cram the massive Breath of the Wild down to around 15 including the DLC, so of course they could do it again with a Smash that brings back everyone plus most past stages, old and new assists and Pokemon, and even new fighters. Those people at Nintendo are masters of compression.

      1. One of the reasons that BotW didn’t have a bigger filesize was it had little variations in textures. All the shrines used the same tiles for example. Clever way to save space. I don’t think Nintendo is extremely more talented than others when it comes to compression, they just make good use of clever choice of content.

  4. I expected 20GB considering the huge amount of characters and stages, and since I’m buying Switch games digital only, this is a pleasant surprise.
