      1. oh okay I thought this was somehow set in a future where jibanyan trained so much he turned into mini hulk and was now a ultimate yokai or something … Idk… lol

  1. Wow! That looks incredible!
I love Yokai Watch games for their vibrant and detailed world and this looks better than I imagined

      1. “we haven’t seen the new pokemon game” well shit I guess let’s go pikachu/eevee have nothing to do with pokemon then

        1. It actually doesn’t have anything to do with the Pokemon series cuz it’s a spin off did you think that Pokemon switch will look like that?

  2. This is exactly what I’ve wanted Pokemon to look like by now, such a shame that Yokai watch look this nice but has some pretty meh mechanics.

    1. I bet 2019 Core rpg will put this to shame . Btw game freek never pushes hardware until the last generation that goes to the console.

      1. They never push hardware because they don’t knor how to do it. Pokemon in 3ds was so bad in performance, that they had to remove 3d from the game to make it run, while almost any other developer could achievr better graphics and 3d mode

      2. Man I would hope it does. I still haven’t bought a switch but either a new Tales game or Pokemon would make me drop those $300 in a heartbeat.

      3. It is not about not knowing how to push hardware but more about the rich content: 800+ unique pokemon models, vast overworld, eclectic environments + move animations takes up so much from performance capability.

      1. Really? I hadn’t heard of this, then again, I haven’t been keeping up with anything as of late. I hope it’s a whole rehaul of the mechanics, because these games are interesting, but having to so such trivial things like use the stylus and rotate it and move it back and forth for every battle is what turned me off from them.

        1. That’s exactly what they said there getting rid of old mechanic for this game and using new one, thank gawd there listening to there fans
Becuase the stylus mechanic is horrible I guess there changing it up becuase this one is taking place on the switch and a yokai game has never been on a Nintendo home console before

            1. I’m thinking they might be independent wise, There’s three of them coming out
              Shadowside
              Forever Friends
And the normal usual yokai watch with Nate (third one doesn’t have a name yet)
Shadowside is pretty dark so I really don’t see it mixing with forever friends and the other title, it’s base off on nates kids the girl right by jibanyan is his daughter.
Forever friends is base on some poor kid and his two friends can talk to yokai is base around nates grandfather time Nate and his grandfather make a cameo in the movie
So I could see the other title and forever friends coming together but not shadowside tbh will have to wait and see for actual game play

  3. Oka now I’m interested. This game looks like it’s going in a direction I once hoped pokemon would go in as far as visuals are concerned. That screenshot literally looks like it could have been taken from a cartoon.

  4. I love how people are comparing this to Pokémon . In which Pokemon 2019 will look better than let’s go

      1. I would guess so too. They usually build a new engine and let is serve a whole generation including remakes. I do not foresee the 2019 pokemon game to look very different from Let’s Go.

    1. Yes but will it have a proper 3D world with a third person behind the character view where you can move the camera like this? Still pretty unsure about that which would be disappointing.

    2. I’m still waiting for Pokemon to look like Nino Ku ni to be honest. Now that game plays and looks amazing, with a great story to top it off, but if it looks like this is be more than happy.

      1. This will be like a dream come true. It has a wonderful art design owing it to Studio Ghibli whose artists and designers force are the best of the best.

  5. Was hoping we can see screenshots of forever friends and Springfield (Nates place) since those are the other two games that are going to be yokai watch 4

  6. This is how I want Pokemon 2019 to look like fully 3D and cel shaded. Not that chibi 2.5 d that lets go is

    1. I love it too. I have always had an interest in the Yokai Watch series because of my passion in Shinto and Japanese folklore, but never got into it because the battle system kind of put me off. I am not a huge fan of luck based games and this has spinning wheels in every battle. Now that they announced that they are changing the mechanics i am extremely hyped up.

  8. This looks so good! The jump from 3DS to Switch is great, I can’t wait to see more on it. I imagine the battle system will be changed up a bit, so I’m excited to see how it plays.
