Super Smash Bros. Ultimate Will Be Playable At Nintendo’s EVO 2018 Booth

If you plan to attend this year’s EVO, we have good news to share with you. Super Smash Bros. Melee and Smash Bros. Wii U, as usual, will be there for their own tournaments. However, another Smash Bros. game will have a presence at the event. The official Nintendo Versus account has announced that a demo for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate will be at Nintendo’s booth. EVO 2018 takes place from August 3rd through 5th. Here is their tweet:

  1. This is it, people. We need to all show up, dress up as Waluigi, an put tape over our mouths and hold up signs that say “WAH!” while we all hold hands.

    1. I don’t understand WHY people want Waluigi on Smash, when there is a tons of good choices. You are just doing it for the memes.

      1. I was just trying to be funny there but I think he’d be pretty good… even if he ends up being an Echo fighter of Ridley or Bayonetta. I have to admit, I was kind of floored to see the (often sarcastic) backlash that resulted in people actually harassing Sakurai.
But yeah, I was trying joke like… “Let’s do a peaceful protest, guys!”

      2. Well with Daisy’s inclusion, that now makes Waluigi the only core Mario character not playable in Smash.

Yes, there ARE other good choices for Smash- and so far they’ve also only wound up as assists (coughcoughKrystalandBombermanwheezecough). And before people start going “he has no moveset potential,” remember that movesets for Fox, Captain Falcon, Pit, Ice Climbers, R.O.B., Duck Hunt Duo, and Wii Fit Trainer were all made despite them having almost nothing to work with (when is Falcon ever playable outside of his machine in F-Zero?). Waluigi could have his stomp move as an assist for his down special, and his mysterious ability to swim in midair as his up special/recovery. Now that Luigi’s Final Smash is his Poltergust, maybe Waluigi can inherit his old one from Brawl, further complementing his “wild card” potential.

Don’t write off the lanky layman with an affinity for eggplant.

  2. I wonder if we’ll see any fighters playable here that weren’t during E3.

More importantly, I wonder if we’ll get a demo like we did for Sm4sh for 3DS- I really want to try playing Inkling and Ridley before I get the full game.
