2K Grows NBA Video Game Portfolio As Publisher Of NBA 2K Playgrounds 2

2K Games has announced that it will be the publisher of NBA Playgrounds 2 which is now titled NBA 2K Playgrounds 2. The arcade basketball title will be coming to the Nintendo Switch this autumn and should hopefully be as entertaining as the original.

“The original NBA Playgrounds was a fantastic throwback to the glory days of arcade-action sports,” said Greg Thomas, President, Visual Concepts. “The new NBA 2K Playgrounds 2 will step up this energy and attitude big time – with a bit of added NBA 2K flair – giving fans of both franchises an exciting new way to game with friends around the world.”

“No one is more committed to bringing fans a great basketball experience than 2K. We can’t wait to share more on how we’re teaming up to make NBA 2K Playgrounds 2’s incredible arcade action bigger and better than ever for players,” said Saber CEO Matt Karch.

  1. Did people enjoy the first one? I found it to be a disappointment, personally. I guess I was expecting something similar to an arcade basketball game like NBA Jam but it turned out to be overly technical so I lost interest very quickly. It didn’t help that most of the players and courts were locked. I never won enough games to unlock any of the extra courts, which was also aggravating.

    1. Exactly. I grew up on NBA Jams Tournament Edition for Super Nintendo. That’s what I was expecting. Playgrounds 1 is wayyy too technical of a game to be considered arcade. I hope they fix this, but I doubt they will.

  2. I’m not really interested in basketball games, so this isn’t really important to me.

  3. well as awesome as it sounds… and i love me basketball games… its 2k… its gonna be trash somehow. they arent capable of making good basketball games anymore
