Rage 2 Developers Looking At Nintendo Switch And Working Out Whether It Is Possible

Variety has published a new interview with Tim Willits, who is ID studio director and the original Rage game director. During the interview the publication asks Willits whether or not there’s a possibility of the game arriving on the Nintendo Switch. Willits says that it is something the team are currently looking into, but they do not know at this precise moment in time whether it is possible.

“We’re looking at the tech on that right now, and we’re still evaluating that,” said Willits about a possible Switch release. “We stream everything, and we’re just looking… because everything is open, everything’s available, so there’s no level loads. We are looking at that now, but we don’t know.”

    1. Yeah, but as he stated they stream levels in and out of memory constantly. That demands a lot of RAM/VRAM and a strong enough CPU to transfer the data and handle all the other tasks like “AI” and physics. Hardware does matter, game engines isn’t the only part of running a game.

  1. Yeah, just build a 500 dollar mini tower Pc with GTX 860 or 1050 or other cheap gpu and connect to Tv with Steam controller or some wireless keyboard, mouse.

    Nintendo is Mario, Zelda machine, always was, always will be.
    In Wii U times it was the same story how awesome the gamepad would be for MMO’s and bla, bla, bla.
    I’m suprised we even got so many 3party so fast now.
    But if you really care so much about these games, play them how they are meant to be played.
    Just Like Nintendo games are meant to be played on Nintendo controller and not a keyboard

    1. Or it might end up selling more copies of the game. Like many will play it on PC/PS4/Xbox and then buy the Switch version for portability. Might not be like that, but you never know.

      1. PS4/Switch master race

        @Kantenstain That’s a possibility.
        @Anonymous I did not know Xenoverse 2 sold that well. That’s awesome.

  2. Andrew Joseph Curran

    Never heard of the Rage franchise, but I like ID software after playing Doom, so I would check it out if it came to the Switch.

  3. I like the statement they put out- at least they are checking out whether RAGE 2 will run proficiently on SWITCH. Honestly I never was a RAGE fan but if it comes to the system I’ll definitely check it out.

    Im happy to see that they’re at least trying.
