Those of you who thought amiibo sales might be on the decline after a number of Toys to Life products were discontinued will be pleased to learn that they are still performing very well. Recent data which has come out of Japan (published by Reset Era member hiska-kun) shows that amiibo sales in Japan at least are up 9 per cent year over year. The data was originally published by the team at Media Create. Here’s the best-selling amiibo figures and amiibo cards in Japan during 2017:

Meanwhile in America, unless it’s a Mario amiibo… *tumbleweed blows by*
amiibo are garbage. It’s not accurate to say sales are up 9% overall, that’s only if you count amiibo figure sales. When amiibo card sales are included, then overall sales are down around 1%.
Also, if you remove the Splatoon amiibo and look at the rest of the sales in Japan then it’s a sorry picture. Splatoon anything sells massively over there.
amiibo sales worldwide must be terrible. Anecdotally, nobody’s really buying them in America or Europe. Nobody’s really selling them either there for that matter.
