  1. While metroid fusion is my favourite game ever made, I can’t deny the witcher 3 is pretty good too. I still need to go back and finish that one eventually…

  2. “…their top ten video games of ALL-TIME.”
Eight out of ten are NEW overhyped eye candy games, just because its fresh in the memory doesn’t mean of ALL-TIME.

Man German magazines are rubbish in all ways, and I say this as a German…

    1. That’s the reason why no “all time” list will ever be truly accurate. They are always skewed towards more recent games to the time the survey is taking place. The fact Mario 64 and Ocarina still show up in these lists shows how great and how loved they are 20 years later.

    2. Just because a game is new doesn’t mean it can’t be someone’s favorite of all time. Then there is the fact people change their favorite games of all time list every now & then, too. Lists are ALWAYS changing and are rarely set in stone. Basically, it’s purely opinion based and opinions change over time (and are subjective.) Just because you disagree because your favorite game didn’t win #1 doesn’t change anything. And overhyped is a purely subjective term, too. One man’s trash is another man’s treasure.

      1. While I do agree wholeheartedly with you on that, Ridley, I also must give Game Breaker credit here as well.

Yeah, people can change their minds, and games do get better all the time(as long as they don’t contain to much lootboxes and stuff), but it is a little typical that almost the whole list is new games. I know a lot of people that always say their favourite Zelda is the newest all the time. Too me it is as you don’t put your soul and heart in a game if you always change your mind. Your favourite game should have moved you in some way that stayed for a while, not until the next release comes out :P But again, I would say it’s easier to fell in love with games nowadays.

  3. We talking about graphics here? Well I see N64 games here so I’m at a loss lol. All great games though to be honest. Personally thought Last of Us was a little overplayed but I finished it so it was good enough to keep me engaged I guess. 😅

  4. I seriously don’t see how people think GTAV is THAT good, the world feels too open for it’s own good, there are buildings for literally no reason, most of them don’t do or have anything.

  5. My problem with lists like these is… there’s a mixture of voting for “this game had a huge influence on the industry” or “this game was really memorable and fun” or “this game is what’s hot right now”.

  6. The Witcher III: Wild Hunt is a pretty damn great game so I won’t fault anyone if they want to list it as their #1 favorite video game of all time. Whether a game is old or new is irrelevant. Everyone has a right to their opinion even if many, many, many others will disagree for whatever reason. It’s definitely high on my list along with Zelda: Ocarina of Time, Zelda: Majora’s Mask, Zelda: Wind Waker, Super Mario World, Chrono Trigger, Xenoblade Chronicles, & Super Metroid to name a few.

And speaking of flashy, good looking games that are only on this list because they are recent, Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild is pretty high on this list in my opinion. I’d put it a lot higher than 4 (if even on my list at all) and some of these other games wouldn’t even be on my list at all.

  7. Not a good list is it lol tlou was lame and nintys only games are ones from the N64! … Metroid prime and super Metroid are me fave games of all time

  8. The Witcher III is definitely a game I’ll never forget. Such a vast, epic adventure. And with the DLC (best DLC I’ve ever seen or played) it’s even BIGGER. Though even a wonderful game like Witcher III wasn’t without flaws. Or should I say, things that annoyed me. I hated the way bandits (or any enemy) could still see Geralt even when he’s hiding behind a tree or bush etc. There wasn’t any stealth actions (like in Assassin’s Creed). I kept wishing that the game had more Assassin’s Creed gameplay. Mainly just the hiding in bushes and sneak-killing enemies, berserk darts, and the ability to climb things. And I despised Gwent. Thank goodness the game didn’t force the player to play Gwent in order to progress in the main story.

  9. The Witcher III was a good game but I don’t see anyone with a seasoned knowledge of video games putting this high because of the combat. TH3 is this generation’s Skyrim, I’m sure it will fall in the coming years.

Also, lol at The Last of Us. That game has terrible combat. It really says something about the “game” aspect of a videogame if one can practically have the same experience by watching the cutscenes on youtube. It’s a B movie zombie/post-apocalypse film where (surprise) the humans end up being the worst villains of them all.

  10. Kinda cool to see not just a nostalgia fest, it’s not a stretch to say games as an art form are trending upwards, so the idea that most of the best games ever are from current or last gen systems, is pretty reasonable. Though this is favorite, and I say favorite and best are different. I love star fox adventures, despite knowing it is a pretty big mess in the last half, so it would make a favorite list of mine, not a best list…so that’s something to consider.

You can like something bad, because quality and affinity aren’t necessarily 1:1
