Good news for retro shoot-em-up fans on the Nintendo Switch as developer Tozai Games has announced that R-Type Dimension will be arriving on the system late this year. You can play the series with their original retro visuals or opt to play with more up to date graphics. Here’s the details along with a trailer:
“R-Type™ Dimensions will be launching worldwide on Nintendo Switch™ and Steam in late 2018. R-Type Dimensions includes both acclaimed arcade classics initially published by Irem, R-Type and R-Type II. Each title can be played in classic mode with the original 2D graphics and retro music or with hi-res 3D graphics and remastered audio.”
Cool! The updated graphics aren’t the greatest but with the option of the classic pixel art that’s fine.
Cool!! I haven’t played the r type games since they were originally released. Looking forward to this.
If I remember rightly they were pretty hardcore!
A physical release would be sweet but it seems unlikely. :(
