  1. Wow… My Nintendo News pimping out that PS4/Spider-Man love. Isn’t this the second or third time My Nintendo News has pointed out Spider-Man selling really well on the PS4?!?!

My Nintendo News admin needs to stop sipping that PS4 cool-aid and get back to running a Nintendo news site. Starting to alienate his fanbase a little.

    1. Literally every week they post the Japanese sales reports, and the headlines often mention the top seller no matter what console. How Nintendo is performing in relation to its competitors IS Nintendo news. The front page here has an article on Japan’s sales and the UK’s. Spider-man just happened to top both. They’re not going out of their way to talk about the game. It’s just such a big deal, it’s bleeding into Nintendo news (kind of like GTA sales or the comparisons between Horizon Zero Dawn and BotW etc).

Heck, I’ve never owned a PlayStation in my life. Skipped it every gen starting with the first. I just got the Spidey PS4 edition yesterday. Good stuff.

    2. I’d like to state for the record that I come to this site for Nintendo news BUT I like all video games and certainly not bothered by Spider-Man praise. #Spidey4MarioTennisAces

    3. Literally right in the title it says the switch is the best selling console in japan. This site always post the Japanese sales reports, and the headlines often mention the top seller no matter what console; Im sure the journalist isn’t talking about spiderman for the sake of it as the game has been doing well pretty much everywhere so it a big deal.

If you weren’t so quick to be in your defensive nintendo nut hugging mode getting on the journalist case and actually thought this through you would have realized that. This is still the same old nintendo news site that provides you with everything nintendo as it usually does and they do a pretty good job at that.Them refering to another game thats doing well in some places everynow & then that’s not nintendo related isn’t gonna viciously murder you.

  2. POOR Wii U it’s a 8th Gen console but nowhere to be found on the Charts… To think it debuted a year before Xbox One and Ps4 and yet fell off quicker then Nintendos creativity and yet Xbox and Ps4 are still charting lol

  3. That’s nice and all… but I found Spider-man to be very disappointing. Best spiderman game for sure. But it really doesn’t push the superhero genre forward at all (very confusing to see so many 10/10s). It’s your typical spiderman game, just more polished and wayyyy more focus on being cinematic. Already bored of it, in less than a week. The main story was really dragged down by all of the Peter, MJ and Miles segments. The combat isn’t very fluid, and the controls are clunky. The postgame missions are super monotonous. The only impressive thing is the graphics IMO. And even then, I don’t think the graphics are as good as Arkham Knight, which came out years ago. Overall, not impressed. Super overhyped game, probably because of how slow this year has been for new games. It’s not BAD, but I expected better. Especially from insomniac, a studio I usually love. It really is a mixed bag. I regret buying it for $60.

    1. I think you’re right that it’s a typical Spider-man game with a ton of polish. I haven’t played any since Spider-man 2, and it’s funny how little has changed. I haven’t gotten far enough into the story to comment on whether it drags, but I do enjoy the writing so far… especially his quips and such. Webslinging feels awesome. Where I would disagree is that I find the combat plenty fluid and have had no issues with the controls (and this is my first time with a Sony controller). I prefer it over any of the Batman games. It’s not a 10, sure, but Metacritic gives it an 87% and I think an 8.5 – 9 is totally fair.

I think this whole generation has been slow, not just this year. Since I just picked up my first PlayStation ever this week, I was hoping to find 4 years worth of exclusive games that I want to play, and it’s surprising how few there actually are. Development times and cost are just brutal nowadays.

      1. Depends on your personal tastes because there are a ton. On my PS4 alone I have 76 exclusives currently installed (I have 6TB storage; 2TB internal and 4TB external) and this doesn’t include games I have deleted or sold. I’d say that’s a pretty good amount for 5 years. That’s 15 exclusive games a year. More than 1 a month every month for five years straight.

But again, it all comes down to the games you want to play I guess.

        1. Totally fair. So taking a complete retail list and toggling it to just exclusives with no PC or anything (I have a powerful gaming PC), leaving in remakes and such because I’ve never had anything PS before, removing imports, I’m at 83. Removing sports and realistic racers for personal preference = 75.

I’ve picked up the Kingdom Hearts collections, the Wipeout collection, Last of Us, Ratchet & Clank, Gundam VS, LittleBigPlanet, Horizon Zero Dawn, Spider-man of course, and I picked up some non-exclusives for $5: Titanfall 2, ME Andromeda. and Destiny 2 was free. That’s a good haul for $125 on games so far. God of War is on its way from GameFly.

So that leaves 66ish retail exclusives which is mostly what I was referring to, even though I do love me some indies. Now there’s a few obvious ones like Uncharted, but what would you recommend I look for in some maybe hidden gems or top picks for you on the console (retail or digital)?

          1. What I have enjoyed might not be your cup of tea but these are some of the PlayStation exclusives (or what have started out as exclusives) that I have found good in addition to the ones you mentioned.

Gravity Rush 1 & 2, inFAMOUS SEcond Son, inFAMOUS First Light, Knack is actually a fun old-school platformer with challenge (despite the flak it gets), The Last Guardian is a beautiful epic, Shadow of the Colossus Remake, Tearaway Unfolded, the Yakuza series (must plays) – currently on PS4 are Yakuza 0, Yakuza Kiwami and Kiwami 2, and Yakuza 6. JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure: Eyes of Heaven if you’re a JoJo fan, Hidden Agenda is a fun party activity, Tokyo Xanadu eX+, World of Final Fantasy, Persona 5, God Eater 1 & 2, Dragon Quest XI, Digimon Story Cyber Sleuth and Hacker’s Memory, Digimon World Next Order, Gran Turismo Sport, What Remains of Edith Finch, Everybody’s Gone to the Rapture, Journey, Everybody’s Golf, Detroit Become Human, Heavy Rain, Sound Shapes, Day of the Tentacle Remastered, Until Dawn. Just some off of the top of my head.

If you ever get PS VR, I can suggest some of those too.

    1. If you can call 5 titles in the top 10 losing. Still impressive considering how few first party games have come out from Nintendo this year.
