Japan: Assassin’s Creed Odyssey Cloud Edition Coming To Nintendo Switch

It looks like the next game getting the cloud treatment for the Nintendo Switch in Japan is Ubisoft’s upcoming Assassin’s Creed Odyssey. The news was announced during the Japanese Nintendo Direct presentation which took place this evening. Like Resident Evil 7 cloud version it doesn’t seem to be coming to the west at present.

    1. You don’t have the game installed on your system, instead your inputs get sent to the servers and they stream you the video and audio in real time. You rent the game for about 2000 yen and play it for few months on their server through Switch and very stable internet connection.

  1. What if… bear with me… what if, you guys buy it on a PS4 or an Xbox One? Or better yet, on a PC?…. 🤔
    Ok no…
But in all seriousness, what if what they didn’t showed us during the Direct, was the cloud gaming? Idk about you guys, but i don’t think they want to piss us off…

  2. Lame. Bring out a more powerful Switch that can run games like this properly. If Cloud gaming comes to the West, I for one won’t be supporting it.

      1. Simple. Scrap portability. There are some of us that don’t give a damn for that “feature”. It’s a lead weight around its neck that’s holding it back in so many ways.

        1. Ah… scrap portability?… SOME OF US? Well… you seem to be the absolute minority… aaaand the Switch is selling like hot cakes, so there doesn’t seem to be that many “SOME OF US” around… at least not enough to warrant a total change in design of an excellent gaming console.

        2. So basically, you want a traditional console that’s up to par in terms of power.

Nothing wrong with that. But, to get what you’re asking for, they’d need to make an entirely different console.

I mean, I wish the Switch was more powerful. But, I get why it is the way that it is.

Nintendo would usually sacrifice power for some stupid reason like a controller gimmick and go “fun is all that matters, blah, blah”. With the Switch being able to play any game anywhere and the Tegra X1 actually being plenty powerful for a mobile device, the trade-off was worth it, imo.

Though, I’d have been fine with your idea though. I always wanted a traditional Nintendo console up to par in terms of power and a proper online infrastructure.

  3. They must have thought, “how can we make our games worse? I know, lets stream them and add connection issues to numerous other issues we never iron out.”
