When the Nintendo Switch Online service arrives on September 18, a total of 20 NES games will be available for subscribers to play from the get-go, with more games added regularly. Launch titles include Super Mario Bros. 3, The Legend of Zelda, Ice Hockey and Pro Wrestling – which will be available for the first time since its 1987 release. A complete list of all 20 NES launch games is as follows:

That was a great game, haha. Sadly, Nintendo’s only doing NES games right now. One can hope for a Virtual Console release though.
Not the info I wanted. But hey, Dr. Mario and Super Mario Bros 3! … My cousin has his own Switch. If he gets this service and when I get this service, maybe we can play SMB3 over the internet for old times’ sake. We won’t be on the couch together like the old days but close enough. I’ll be more excited when SNES games are a thing and Super Mario World is one of the games. We use to stay up all night playing that, too. Same for Super Mario Kart. (I wish I could just buy them outright and avoid their half-assed paid online.)
Double Dragon, Ice Climbers, and Super Mario Bros might be nice, too.
That reminds me of when my cousin and I played Smash Melee and Brawl for like 7 or more hours and a few times we stayed battling until 8 AM. My fathers didn’t like it when we stayed too late because he has hypoglycemia (and still has it to this day) but thankfully when he started feeling the symptoms, we quickly go to get him some food even if it was 4 AM Lol XD
The NES games are the only thing that makes the Online service have some value to me but yeah I wish we could just buy these cuz if we don’t have the service, we don’t have the games unfortunately.
As long as the service doesn’t end when the Switch gets replaced and we can still play these games on the next system, I’m okay with them being tied to the service as we’ll technically own the games. (I consider the games I got through PS+ as MY games even though I only own them because I got the service.)
I have a Nvidia Shield Tv that play’s every game ever released up until around the PS2 Gamecube/WII.
Like 900 Snes games wich is already a good reason to buy one.
Hopefully they will expand until they reach N64 games and later the Game Cube games.
Unfortunately I think Nintendo knows how much value lies with GameCube titles and they will probably charge extra for anything to do with GameCube titles
I guess I’ll have to pay a bit more when they put the Game Cube games (although most of the GC games I want are from third parties).
As for N64 I hope Game Freak finally put Pokémon Stadium 1 and 2 instead of giving silly excuses like the one they said about why they didn’t make Stadium 3.

Why doesn’t anywone get it?? Nintendo is doing it right, it is just the marketing that is wrong. People complain that it is not fair to pay for something that was free, but the Switch Online Service was never supposed to be free. Nintendo however decided to give it for free until they can add something more. We were lucky, and nobody seems to see it. Nintendo assumed the price of the online service maintainance when it was supposed to be paid by us.
It is as siple as this:
1) Nintendo planned to charge for Switch Online play at launch.
2) The offered price, 20€, was already competitive with PS4 and XBOX one. Yeah, you wouldn’t get any “free games”, but you were just paying for the online service. Many people would prefer to be able to play PS4 online for a chepaer price, and they wouldn’t care if that included games. So yeah, If you ask PS4 users if they would preffer to pay only 20€ for online play and not have any “free” games, many gamers would accept that deal.
3) However, Nintendo thought, even if we are offering a good value for money, we should add something more while keeping the same price.
4) Therefore, Nintendo decided to give us temporarily for free a service that wwas going to be charged from the beggining util they could add something more to the service, even if the value for money was already right. And in the mantime, Nintendo would pay for the mainteinance of the serves, something that was supposed to be maintained with our subscriptions. That is why there is no improvement on the servers with the online subscription, because this servers were already designed for a subscrition system.
5) Nintendo then decided to add the NES games for free, as a plus to the service. This means that when you are paying the online service, you are not really paying for the games, you are paying to play online, and the NES games are just an added present.
If at launch Nintendo had said: “You will have to pay 20€ to play online from day 1” (without including any free games), then people would have understood that it made sense, and would ahve also udnerstood that if they wanted an online service with games, they would have to pay a more expensive online subscription.
Howver, nintendo didn’t communicate this correctly, and people just think “why should I pay for something that was for free?? A yes.. we are paying for shitty NES games”.
