If you’re a Switch owner, and you have digital games on your console, then this news may really interest you. You will now be able to designate a Switch console as the “primary console”, then make other Switch consoles “non-primary consoles”. This will allow digital sharing across multiple Switch consoles via your Nintendo Account, something that has been highly requested by fans.
However, there are a few catches. If a non-primary Switch player is playing a game, and the primary Switch console player begins to do the same, then the non-primary player will have to stop. Non-primary consoles are also required to have an internet connection to play. Also, according to Nintendo, “when using downloadable software on a non-primary console, your game will pause if your Nintendo Account is used to access downloadable software on any other Nintendo Switch console”. Lastly, downloadable content can only be started by the user that purchased it.

I guess because it’s because it has nothing to do with the Nintendo Switch Online service, which was what they were pushing in the direct.
This new feature is just part of the 6.0.0 update.
Honestly, I hope this has nothing to do with the paid online and this is just a coincidence. It’d be silly to have it be a perk of having their paid online since you can do these two things on the PS4 (and Xbox One, I’m sure) for free.

I have no idea what any of that means.
It means forget about having a friend play against you off your download. See, I have two Xbox Ones, and when I get a digital download I can play it on both at the same time, which allows for two people or more to play on the same software. This sounds like there’s no simultaneous play, which is sort of the idea of being able to have the software on two consoles.
That’s pretty cool. Steam has a sharing system similar to how Nintendo’s is sounding, but you definitely can’t play simultaneous. Does Xbox require you to be on the same network or can you do a family share with a friend/relative and play like that in separate households?
So… it’s a system link?
The question I have is the “Lastly, downloadable content can only be started by the user that purchased it.” Does that mean your actual account has to be on all of the Switches in particular. Like lets say for example: I’m getting my sister a Switch for Xmas and I’m just going to do the family plan online sub. Can she play any games I have or would I need to set up my own profile on the her Switch as well?
i beleve you have to set it up and she just downloads it, but you two cant play at the same time and your sister HAS to be connected to the internet while using your games.

Now only waiting on Netflix and Youtube apps, I don’t need either, but once those hit the console, I will buy my son his own Switch.
