Koji Igarashi: “Quality Is Still Very Important, But Yes, 2019 Is The Year We Need To Release [Bloodstained: Ritual Of The Night]”

USGamer recently posted a PAX West interview with Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night‘s Koji Igarashi, where they talked about the game. Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night is currently slated for a 2019 release on multiple platforms, including the Nintendo Switch. According to Igarashi, that 2019 is a necessity. Here’s what he said about the game’s release date in full:

“2019 is the year. It’s definitely what we’re focusing on,” Igarashi confirms. “It’s very difficult for us to keep working for such a long production period, especially when using outsourced companies. Right now, we want to get [Bloodstained] out as soon as possible. Quality is still very important, but yes, 2019 is the year we need to release the game.

  1. I was about to check if this was going to come out on Switch, and then I remembered what site I’m on.
On the other hand, since Aria of Sorrow is one of my all time favorite GBA games, I will be getting this.

  2. I hope it’s good! I’ve backed this baby since the beginning wayyyy back when it was going to come to my Wii U. Now, it’ll come to my Switch! :)

    1. You aren’t the only one, I also backed this game for the ps4, PC GOG, and vita version. Soon as they revealed the Switch and announced the WiiU was ending I was one of the first backers to ask the devs to scrap the WiiU version and make a Switch version. The moment they announced the Switch version I changed my vita version to he Switch backer version, so glad I did since the vita is now completely dead lol:D

  3. I’m glad they pushed it back again and didn’t just throw it out there like with what happened to Mighty No 9 and Yooka-Laylee. I was not impressed with their e3 showing at all.

  4. In other news: “No kidding.”
I’m an original backer as well. Bloodstained was one of the few lights on Wii U back in E3 2015… and then it flickered out like the rest lol
