We know that Nintendo has looked into Virtual Reality but it seems that the company is still continuing to see if they can make it fit with any of their upcoming projects. Nintendo of America president Reggie Fils-Aime spoke at Seattle’s Geekwire Summit on Wednesday and revealed the following information about the company and its interest in Virtual Reality:
“When asked about technologies we might see from Nintendo in the future, Fils-Aime responded to a specific question about augmented and virtual reality possibilities. After reminding the crowd about Nintendo’s history with the Virtual Boy and an “AR Cards” feature baked into the 3DS, he offered the most intriguing official line from the company yet: “This is something we constantly think about, experiment with. For virtual reality, we’ve said: it’s tech that we’re looking at, but in the end it has to be fun. That’s our mission, and that is what we do arguably better than anyone else. We have nothing to announce here on this stage. These are going to be technologies that we’ll continue to experiment with. There are new experiences we want to bring to life.”
I want Star Fox VR
That would be amazing!
That is called StarFox Zero
Star Fox Zero is a good game imo. It didn’t made the same impact as SF64 but still is a good game with some mechanics
Metroid VR would also be quite nice
This is something that Commander Quadraxis will absolutely be happy about
Haven’t seen him around for a while.
Don’t worry. He will show up again very soon.
Commander Quadraxis = Nintendo first Order Reaver. It’s all the same guy with different accounts, this was already debunked last year before the Switch arrived.
Anyway I think Nintendo will bring VR or to their next console or later on the Switch but for later I mean 3 or 4 years.
Just a speculation
Animal crossing amiibo festival 2: VR
Pikmin VR. Be the little plant things and vomit everywhere. :/
VR does seem like something they would have wanted to get into, but they usually want to set trends, not jump on board. Just look out that trendy internet thing. We had to drag them kicking and screaming to that.
Besides that, VR needs a lot of horsepower behind it to do it right.
Even now, they are still fighting against us when it comes to that internet thing: voice chat tied to a smartphone app, cloud saves limited to certain games, an ethernet port is sold separately.
Well it’s a couple gens late, but there is an ethernet port on the Switch dock.
Actually, there isn’t. Like the Gamecube, Wii, and Wii U, the ethernet port is sold separately. Look at the dock again. It’s got 3 (1 on the inside of the dock and 2 on the side) USB ports, an AC adapter port, and an HDMI port.

I must have not thought about it when I plugged in the adapter from where it was for the Wii U. Shows what I know.
Nothing wrong with not knowing. Until recently, I thought the Wii U had a built in ethernet port til I looked it up and found out the thing was sold separately like the GCN and Wii before it.
I hope to see nintendos version of vr in their next console. It wouldn’t be feasible with the current capabilities of the switch. I have psvr and I can say it’s still not there yet and with the PS4 being more powerful than switch Nintendo won’t be able to do a better job. It’s entertaining for a little while but as far as sit down and play for hours it’s not there.
Because VR for gaming is incomplete still now.
I hope this isn’t a thing for Nintendo, at least not for 10 years. I just recently got a PSVR, and it looks like trash. Yeah it’s a fun gimmick, and the wow factor is cool, but that only lasted about an hour or so.
With Ninty always chosing anything and everything over power, a VR system or accessory from them would suck so bad.
Agreed. VR is fun and all, but we need better and cheaper hardware for it. Can’t imagne what Switch could bring to the table for VR. Better to stay out of it for now.
My understanding is that you need to drop a few grand for a high end PC and Vive setup for it to be awesome.
Didn’t he say the same thing for months about VR? They ask the same damn questions about this and what do they get, the same answers. People do not have the patience these days.
Nintendo did VR Mario Kart Arcade. So Nintendo officially has a VR game out there.
They might do another VR arcade game in the future.
This is where VR belongs in my oppinion, not in the home!
You silly kids and your virtual reality. The future of gaming is clearly cardboard.
IF YOU DIDNT KNOW THIS YOUR THICK they have researched and even made vr gaming since the 1980s that includes wii wiiu switch and they had virtual boy and another full blown VR unit they never released went with they also have had 3d scereen and 3d view reseach from the 80s to today THATS KINDA OBVIOUS
A GIMMICK IS HAVNG TV BROADCASTERS VOICE FIFA AND PES

Pay no attention to that silly kid behind the overused CAPS LOCK. He’s off his meds, though he will try to claim that he’s perfectly sane and that it’s everyone else who is off theirs.
VR isn’t happening anytime soon. Too expensive, so few fun ideas (at present), and too alienating for the amount of people who get sick playing it. It’ll pass like 3D did.
Now AR… That’s a different story…
VR needs to change drastically for me to care about it. As of now it’s just an expensive piece of junk.
