Pokemon 2019 For Nintendo Switch Will Let You Use Your Older Monsters

Another publication that has managed to get an interview with Pokemon director Junichi Masuda is GameSpot. The site wanted to ask Mr. Masuda about its plans for the “core” Pokemon title which is in development for the Nintendo Switch and is scheduled for 2019. Mr. Masuda said this about Pokemon 2019, “We do have plans to find ways to let players use their Pokemon in the next game.”

“We’re definitely always thinking of that kind of forward-moving functionality, especially since we’ve introduced Pokemon Bank. Now, up to Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon, you’re able to store your Pokemon, and we know they’re very important to everyone. I mean, obviously, people would be very sad if they couldn’t use their Pokemon in a future game. So, it does get complicated when you talk about the details and we’re still figuring it out, but we do have plans to find ways to let players use their Pokemon in the next game.”

    1. Ya, it’s kind of annoying when you spend hours on end training your PKMN and doing your best at getting high stats… …then along comes someone who has the perfect MaxStat, Modded PKMN.
      I’m just sitting there like: “bruh…” …. -_-‘

I don’t really bother trying anymore… I actually stopped playing altogether after PKMN X/Y. It just seems like so much work for so little pay, and to add to that, the flavor of the mainline games is starting to get dated…I’m so bummed that the company just doesn’t give us a game like Pokemon Stadium, I would buy 10 of those before I buy any other version. — So yeah… I’m Not very interested in getting back into Pokemon unless the 2019 version really does something unique.

    2. I won’t deny it; I use things like PokeGen and Powersaves to get the Pokemon I want. I will continue to do this until Gamefreak actually gives us a reasonable way to making teams for competitive play.
Currently, the system is deeply flawed, you have to spend hours upon hours breeding and leveling them up for the best possible stats and with the massive roster Pokemon has, most of us simply don’t have that sort of time. Not to mention actually getting the correct hold items is a pain in the ass, they should at least take a page from Z-Moves’s book and once you have a hold item, you can keep distributing it to as many Pokemon as you want. And don’t get me started on IV Breeding, that process is extremely boring and unnecessarily long due how RNG based IV’s are.
Gamefreak have themselves to blame for the rise of hacking, if this were a standard RPG game where you only have a selection of playable characters, this system would be perfect but with the huge amount of playable Pokemon you have, a traditional RPG grinding system just doesn’t work.

Okay, that is flat out impossible. For people, like myself, that know how to hack in Pokemon that are identical to legit Pokemon, there is no way Gamefreak’s system can tell them apart.
Believe it or not; Gamefreak’s current system actually isn’t too shabby, if there is even 1 little mistake in hacked Pokemon that is impossible to be done normally, Gamefreak’s system instantly picks it up and blocks it from being used online. The only way to use hacked Pokemon online is to make them be 100% identical to legit Pokemon, even the slightest mistake causes them to be unusable.

      1. That means it won’t be a new video game, just another expansion basically.

Just… more pokemon, another generic story, nothing really fresh.

    1. How is that a nail in the coffin and how is more pokemon, a new region, and new story not a new game?, Wouldn’t all old pokemon make it a old game?, Also Gamefreak has been lazy, they haven’t been adding enough new Pokemon, as somebody who has caught them all I can’t tell you how annoying Sun and Moon was to go though, they were all Pokemon I already had.

      1. I already mentioned in another comment. It shows this new game is just another expansion with probably another generic story and no serious changes to the gameplay.

It’s just unfortunate for someone looking for a fresher experience to Pokemon

    2. The point of Pokemon is the Pokemon. The games and such are just a vehicle to make new Pokemon and to let people “catch ’em all.” If you want something fresh from Pokemon, you gotta go for the spin offs.

      1. I called the news article about the “Pokemon Company being ready to talk about the new games” out for being Clickbait because it was saying he was ready to talk about it next year… the year of release. Other people said this wasn’t news either but he was targeting me specifically.

      2. Hey Shiny, apologies for that situation. I wrote that article and it was worth informing people. I’ve seen people expecting the end of the year on Twitter :D I’ve spoken to my colleague about the deleted comments. Shouldn’t happen again.

      1. Yep, I started Pokemon with Silver. Having kids pull out their link cables if they were about to lose a fight would make me so mad, I thought it was going to break my game.

  1. I’ve been collection Pokemon since the GBA games and Have the entire Living Pokedex including Event Pokemon, if they didn’t give us a way to transfer Pokemon I’d be done with the franchise. All of you complaining about this sound kind of insane to be honest. Just because you may not care about your pokemon or have good ones to transfer over doesn’t mean that everybody is that way I value my pokemon and have worked very hard for them. And some of you want them to make new pokemon games with out adding new pokemon? How would it be a new game with out new Pokemon?, the last two generations didn’t give us enough new Pokemon.

  2. It would be pretty surprising and disappointing if this wasn’t the case. I thought the whole point of creating Pokémon bank was so you could keep using your Pokémon into the future.

    1. Woah, that was weird. I was replying to someone commenting about a rogue admin deleting comments… and it was deleted as I posted the reply.

  3. I don’t have pokemon from ruby, diamond, or black. I have pokemon from Y version, omega ruby, ultra moon and virtual console versions of red and silver. I no longer have my cartridges for yellow, silver, ruby, diamond, or black. I won’t sell my currently own games at gamestop anymore and i’ll try to take better care of them if their internal battery doesn’t die out. I would like remakes of diamond and white version.

  4. Yay! Comments opened! :D

I’m so glad our Pokemon won’t be trapped on the handheld games! It would have been the nail in the coffin for my interest in future games of the mainline entries. *sighs with relief* YES!!! YES!!! YES!!!
