Challenge Master Trainers In Pokemon: Let’s Go, Pikachu! & Let’s Go, Eevee!

The Pokémon Company International and Nintendo announced today that fans can challenge “Master Trainers” in the highly anticipated Pokémon: Let’s Go, Pikachu! and Pokémon: Let’s Go, Eevee! video games for Nintendo Switch.

In Pokémon: Let’s Go, Pikachu! and Pokémon: Let’s Go, Eevee!, the fun doesn’t end after the player becomes the Pokémon League Champion. After becoming Champion, the player will encounter Master Trainers who are dedicated to training a particular species of Pokémon. Accordingly, there is a Master Trainer for every Pokémon species in the Kanto region. An image of each Master Trainer’s favorite Pokémon is displayed above their head. Battling a Master Trainer is a true test of skill and strength since items cannot be used in battle. Players who emerge victorious from the battle can leave with that Master Trainer’s title. Titles can then be displayed prestigiously in-game during Link Battles.

Pokémon: Let’s Go, Pikachu! and Pokémon: Let’s Go, Eevee! will be available exclusively on Nintendo Switch on November 16, 2018. For more information, please visit http://pokemon.com/pokemonletsgo.

    1. There’s people that don’t mind grinding for hours on end postgame just because they like the game. Your not required to do it. It’s there if you want to do it simple as that

      1. I guess I was remembering the head guys suggesting this “challenge” as being incentive for veterans to play Let’s Go.

    2. Due to the fact I can send pokemon over from Pokemon Go, I can just deploy a really good CP pokemon over and mop the floor. See that Charizard master Trainer in the thumbnail? A fire/flying type has a 4x weakness to rock type attacks. I can only use charizard. Knock Knock! Who’s there? .CHARIZARD WOULD LIKE TO LEARN ROCK SLIDE.

  1. This isn’t what I had in mind for end game content…I mean, it’s just more battling. Except now, you have to grind and level up every single Pokemon in the Pokedex. Hooray?…yeeeah, I’m still not digging this game…

    1. It’s spin off game not main series, if it was main you could import and export to Pokemon bank.
Nintendo didn’t owned all rights to Pokemon GO mobile and did lost a very big chunk on cash, so now the
Go thing is still a thing … Nintendo wants some money from the pool and forced Poké company to focus on something with Go in it and it will fail like cardboard.

  2. Really interesting idea, but as CFG stated in their comment, it’ll require a lot of grinding especially if you’re going to try and beat every trainer. So, maybe I’ll try a few battles but I doubt I’ll go for all of them.

  3. The real question on my mind is will the titles be interchangeable or are you stuck with the most recent one you obtained?

If so Raichu will be the absolute last one I obtain

  4. This is sad even gba remakes are still a better value and overall superior games to this. If you haven’t played pokemon yet and want to experience the first gen play leaf green and fire red they are a much better introduction to the series and still hold up very well by today standard quality games.

If you really wanna play the lets go thing you could just get it second hand from dayone buyers cause these “games” are far from being worth full retail price.

    1. Your clearly not the target for this game. Wait for Pokemon next year. Let’s go is as good enough of an intro as any, it’s targeting Pokemon go players and a new generation of gamers.

      1. Dragon Ball FighterZ was a gateway for DBZ fans into the fighting genre of games and it didn’t offer poop quality to those that were new and bought it.

Honestly, having your game be centered around battling and literally having your “end-game content” be just more battling and even more grinding and time consuming (you have to search for Pokemon you don’t already have by the end of the campaign/main story) than before isn’t exactly fun. It’s just another collection-based objective that Nintendo always does in their games and claims, which doesn’t always = fun. It just comes off as a bothersome to-do list. And all for what? A title? Give me a break. I’m a Pokemon fanboy 100% but that’s just an empty lie.

        1. This game is not “poop quality”. That’s just your opinion because it doesn’t appeal to you. Next year’s game will be aimed at more traditional fans, this game is for the new people and I guarantee it will sell by the loads in Japan. The post game content is not necessary to enjoy the game. It’s post game content for a reason. Once you look at the game for what it is and not for what it isn’t you won’t be as upset as you clearly are.

      2. @reeleemee I am not mad whatsoever. I’m criticizing the game’s endgame content and what it, supposedly, has to offer (rather, the lack thereof). I know this is my opinion and I know yours is your own. That much is obvious (at least I thought it was).

What I’m pointing out about the illusion of endgame content in Pokemon LG P/E is that players who will potentially buy this game and/or are on the fence about it, regardless of the targeted demographic/audience GameFreak is aiming for with this game, deserve better. There’s nothing wrong with comparing this game to how other games treat endgame content, especially previous Pokemon titles, in order to determine what parts of this game can be improved upon.
Looking at a game for “what it is” as you stated implies that you accept what you’re given, at least with how you said it. Regardless of how you meant it, that’s totally fine; a lot of people just accept what they got in their games sometimes. But I’m not one of them in terms of this Pokemon game.

I wrote a lot but here is the tl;dr version of what I originally was going to write: The endgame content is an illusion. Just because this game is catered to a specific audience, and because a Pokemon title is coming out in 2019, that doesn’t void the criticism people give Pokemon LG P/E. People stopped playing Pokemon GO for the same reason; lack of content beyond its base gameplay (and lack of updates for promised features within the first year of its release, and other things).

        1. Well said. Personally I hate when people that accept what they got tell others to do the same. Other people might want more/better. There is absolutely NOTHING wrong with wanting more and better things. Nothing wrong with wanting what you get, either. Least til you try to tell others they should shut up and do the same.
