Digital Foundry: Dark Souls Remastered On Nintendo Switch Analysis

Digital Foundry are forever testing the latest video games and their latest project is Dark Souls Remastered which has finally launched on the Nintendo Switch. The team says that the Nintendo Switch version has pros and cons and it is actually based on the original Xbox 360 and Playstation 3 versions of the game. Have a watch below!

“Developer Virtuos crafts a unique port for Switch with its own pros and cons. At its basis, this is the original 360/PS3 version of the game with none of the visual embellishments seen in the PS4 remaster – besides the change to a dynamic 1080p while docked. However there’s more to this version than first meets the eye, as Tom explains.”

  1. Hah! The Switch not being able to handle the downgraded lighting on PS4/XB1/PC ended up making it the best version. Even with the compressed audio color me sold.

    1. So freaking what? At least the Switch can handle games like Dark Souls Remastered including DOOM, Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus, and Diablo III.

  2. started playing this last night for just a bit. Got to Undead Burg bonfire. Doing a sorcerer this time. Was smooth and fun and SO AWESOME in hand held mode. Will play some more later but so far it’s pretty great being able to play the game like this.

  3. I’m enoying it. I’ve always wanted a portable souls-like game… I never thought we’d get the actual Dark Souls.

My only gripes that I wish it were DS2 or even DS3 instead… But obviously that’s not a valid complaint.
