The Smash Direct is currently going on, and we know now the entire roster. Ken is joining the roster as an Echo Fighter for Ryu. Also, Incineroar from Pokemon is playable in the game as a newcomer. A couple of tweets can be seen down below.

I knew that leak couldn’t have been real- there’s a new Pokemon fighter in every Smash, for there not to be one would be blasphemy.
Agreed. Zeraora or Decidueye would have been loads better. Preferably Decidueye.
I think they went with Incineroar in order to get another heavyweight in. That seems to be a theme here, which isn’t too surprising as Smash was in need of more heavy fighters.
Still, Decidueye would have been really cool. Perhaps it would have that glide ability that we haven’t seen since Brawl and the move would be exclusive to it.
Incineroar has been one giant disappointment for me. If he had been a four legged liger, he would have been great. (I guess they didn’t want it to outshine Solgaleo…)

Yep Shadow is once again as a assist trophy once again as usual. Well, there is still a chance for shantae as DLC for next year since we don’t get Shadow as playable echo fighter.
BREAKING NEWS– Shantae is officially a Spirit Character. But wait… there’s more. Bayonetta’s sisterhood BFF Jeanne is also a Spirit Character along with Wonder Blue.
And this is exactly why I treat all leaks as fakes until proven real, to avoid disappointment. I did it with the ESRB leak, I did it with the Grinch leak, why mess with tradition?
Also, Chorus Kids in the Grinch leak’s artstyle clashed with the rest of the fighters, and I still don’t get why them of all Rhythm fighters when a series staple should be one.
I bet corus kids were put in as an obvious “its fake, there is no way anyone would beli….”
Least Isaac is an assist trophy so Golden Sun is getting some kind of love. (Felix could always end up being one of the DLC fighters, though, but I won’t hold my breath.)
Of all the awesome Pokemon in Gen 7, it just had to be Incineroar. I would have preferred Zeraora or Decidueye (leaning more toward Decidueye!) So fuck Incineroar! (Still pissed they could have done something cool with Litten’s final evolution but ended up giving us a generically designed fighting type. Could have given us an awesome 4 legged liger, instead.)
Felix could work, now that you’ve put the thought in my head. He’d be interesting- would players view him as an antagonist from the original GS? Or as the protagonist of Lost Age? That alone should be grounds for consideration as a fighter if you ask me- it all comes down to perception.
But where the skull kid? And the geno? And the banjo? And the isaac? I am sad.
Isaac is an assist trophy again, Banjo+Kazooie are chained up in Microsoft’s Rareware dungeon, Geno is being overlooked by Nintendo & Squeenix again, and Skull Kid probably had his invitation stolen by that bastard Tingle who hopefully got promptly eaten by a Sarlacc Pit so he’ll be slowly digested (while alive) for a thousand years.
(If you can’t tell I loathe Tingle, well I don’t know how else to strongly hint at it than him being alive for 1000 years as he suffers a slow and extremely painful death. lol)
I was really hoping Tingle would be the secret “joke” character for this release. They could do so many expressive animations and moves if they based his set off his DS games.
