Pokemon Let’s Go Eevee & Pikachu released today, and people have already managed to hack into it. The game is vulnerable to save file edits, and it has a lack of online hack checks. Hacker mattyoukhana said that “My save data was ripped from my game and moved onto my computer where I made the edit. The original Pokemon was a Shiny Ivysaur, I modified to become Mew (you can see remnants of bad editing such as it having a Gender, Mew is Genderless”.
Matt also confirmed that, due to the lack of online hack checks, you can trade the hacked Pokemon with players online. For example,USGamer said that Matt “later traded the Mew online for a Machop with a random player”. USGamer explained why, saying that “while there’s no global trading in Pokemon Let’s Go, the password system allows it to be easily bypassed so players can randomly get paired up with someone online not in their friends group.”.
I’m not really surprised
Go figure… Nintendo/PKMN isn’t really competent enough to handle this area of the companies’ weakness. It’s actually one of the main reasons why I stopped playing Pokemon all together.
Lol umm its also one of reasons so many people do play pokemon
lol, to each their own I guess.
This isn’t news, it was getting hacked since before it released.
At least the system are getting brick for pirating the rom
The bricked systems are from a fake rom with malware in it.
Thanks for letting me know I thought it was going to be like the sun and moon fiasco where they ban online for some of he users
You can’t fix what is already trash and of a dying franchise only kept alive by nostaliga driven over 30s
Okay.
I’d put money on you being the life of every party you go to…
im actually pretty good to chill with until you mention that cancerous dying franchise only kept alive by nostalgia over 30yos who should know better.
Why did they disable cloud saving again?
Because Nintendo is selectively stupid.
That quick?
The title could’ve been chosen better. The news here isn’t that people are “already” hacking the games, but that they’re poorly protected once more.
When hacking is the kind of news you publish expect your readership to dip down. This is not professional journalism.
Yet you clicked on it? That’s kind of the idea, and they succeeded. If you don’t like these kinds of stories, you’re better off not clicking at all. They can see which stories get the most interest.
lol
Uh-oh
Maybe I wont get this game after all. I dont want to get hacked I just want know if I should wait on the next pokemon game or not
We’re not discussing people getting hacked. We’re simply talking about people hacking their own games to give themselves overpowered pokemon.
Which is frustrating for those of us who want to play legitimately and be able to compete, but we cant because a hacker can get the perfect robocop of pokemon and blow a casually competitive player out of the water.
Awwww that’s just wrong and unfair
