  1. The sad truth is Kirby only wins these because he’s cute and it seems Japan loves cute stuff. Hence why Federation Force forced a chibi artstyle because they thought if they made everything cute that it’d sell better in Japan. Since Other M making Samus submissive didn’t win over the Japanese audience, they figured they’d try the cute route instead. Nintendo needs to just accept the fact that Metroid is more for western tastes and needs to quit trying all of these things to make it more Japanese friendly. Honestly, Nintendo’s favoritism for Japan needs to just stop entirely and just accept the fact not everything they make HAS to appeal to their home country.

    1. Kirby only wins cause he’s cute!? Way to disregard how well his games sell especially as a second party title, the fact the franchise is over 25 years old, and his game releases are more frequent. Plenty of characters are cute but cute alone doesn’t get you to the top of the list with guys before you being LINK AND MARIO.

Please. Metriod has a spottier history with hits and misses ( and the misses REALLY miss)

Federation force looks the way it does cause of Miis btw. I doubt it was a choice based “Well Pikachu is cute”.

      1. Okay, I was a bit unfair to Kirby by saying “only because he’s cute.” BUT him being cute is still a good part of why he won this list. As I said, Japan loves cute things.

As for Metroid, it’s only had two misses: Other M and Federation Force. And it’s for the reason of trying to appeal to the Japanese audience instead of Metroid fans. It’s the one franchise by them that only ever really does well outside of Japan while Japan sales of Metroid games tend to be abysmal.
