  1. Well it’s on track to hit a million in Japan by the end of this year so that’s good news. I enjoyed the game for wt it is but I’m betting some ppl will be salty for the games success.

  2. No need to be salty. All it means is that Nintendo made a good business decision despite core gamers complaining. Core gamers will get their Pokemon game. I think Game Freak was likely nervous making the transition into full HD 3D Graphics. This allowed them to try new things and test out HD Graphics with a bit of a scapegoat to fall back on if fans weren’t happy. That Scape Goat being “this is a casual game.”

They have essentially rebuilt the same game over and over again with minor graphical improvements and plot differences for the last 20 years. It’s almost like they have an internal program that is akin to “Mario Maker” that allows them to churn out Pokemon games and make millions of dollars. Now that they have essentially completed their “Pokemon Maker HD Program,” we can expect them to continue churning out Pokemon titles that look the same but have different gym leaders and a few new monsters for years to come. With Let’s Go they have confirmed that they will continue to make millions off this formula, so they can now risk making a core game.

    1. Well I hope this time they made the “have one of your Pokemon follow behind you on the world map” code if they do have some Pokemon Maker HD Program now. It’s the one feature I loved in Yellow and in Heart Gold & Soul Silver (when they expanded it to not just Pikachu but the first Pokemon in your team (if they aren’t fainted) but we only got it in those 3 games. (Could have had it in Sun/Moon and Ultra Sun/Moon but they decided against it for some reason.)

  3. Meh. I’m not annoyed by Let’s GO. It’s not like it’s a repeat of Metroid Prime: Federation Force where, at the time, was the only Metroid game we were aware of and most of us Metroid fans vastly hated it. Not to mention it’s not like Pokemon went nearly a decade without a good Pokemon game before we got yet another disappointment. Pokemon didn’t have no “Other M” debacle between the releases of a good Pokemon game and bad Pokemon game. If they had said “Don’t fret if you don’t like Federation Force. We are in the process of making a new Metroid game that will appeal to the hardcore fans.” after the backlash FedForce got, the hate for it wouldn’t have been nearly as bad. When you follow up a bad game with another bad game after the series was dark for a little over half a decade, you’re bound to piss off half or most of the fanbase.

Imagine if that terrible Silent Hill phone game had been followed up with a Silent Hill pachinko machine, the fanbase would have been PISSED.

  4. The news is that westerne games are selling in Japan, exaxtly those that were ‘incompatible’ whith japanese people (FPS). Looks like Japan is changing.
Let’s Go will likely sells forever, good news for the platform, numbers attract developers.

  5. Nintendo has closed the gap significantly with the PS4. Late next year it should pass the PS4 for hardware sold lifetime.
