Masahiro Sakurai‘s latest Famitsu column entry was published. Source Gaming has translated what Sakurai said, where they discovered some interesting news for those who are getting Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. According to Sakurai, the game will receive its first update on launch day. The update will only be for players who bought the physical version of the game. Here’s what Sakurai said about the matter in full:
We will distribute our first update on launch day. Players who purchased the digital version don’t need to worry, but players who purchased the physical version should apply this day-one patch before you play. This will also prevent your replays from going off-track. By the way, if you save your replays as videos, you can keep them forever, but note that they take up a lot of space!
Okaaay…
I miss the days of just being able to play my new game WITHOUT updates lol
Plus… How big is said update???
Takes time to balance characters.. so even if there was no day 1 update, odds are there would be a 1st month update.
I meant as in GB lol
Better this than mikrotransactions. I get it not all people have fast Internet, but it is worse things than getting updates… like… not getting updates for a broken game.
fallout 76 says hello haahha
Exactly! Way better to have day one patches than that!
Yes! XD fallout 76 is having huge patches too, but that must be annoying
That 56GB patch didn’t even help.
Well, it’s better to have the video option for those who don’t have a PVR. Just transfer the videos from your SD-card to a PC and you probably can keep that way of recording up for a while. Way better than losing your replays like you did on Wii U when a update came. But a PVR would probably be a better solution anyway xP
I know right? its really simple you know. We can finally upload our replays instead of using a 30s to record a video.
Considering how soon it leaked they’ve had plenty of time since printing to find a bug
Good news, Nintendo took down those contents on YouTube that was uploaded by some gamers who spoiled the world of light story mode who got the game early.
Good. I deleted YouTube for a bit
Well, I hope we upload those replays on YouTube like Super Smash Bros. 4 did for the Wii U. recording 30s of gameplay is just not enough. Nintendo needs to updated there record feature to 3 minutes or 5 minutes.
This probably gets rid of “racist” Mr. Game& Watch
Going to unlock him as early as possible, just to take a snapshot. It’ll last longer.
What???
If you’ve been living under a rock, a bunch of SJWs complained about one of one G&W’s attacks, based on an old G&W game featuring cowboys and indians (the original term for native americans). Because G&W was wearing a feather on his head for one single frame (stupid, I know), it was deemed offensive.
Nintendo obliged to removal demands and said that they would release a patch that gets rid of it.
I wonder if this includes the Mr. Game & Watch change.
What else is new? lol Par for the course, ladies and gentleman. If you thought cartridges returning was gonna stop day 1 patches and such, you clearly weren’t paying attention to the 3DS where there are such things on there, too, and that also used cartridges.
Anyway, fare thee well, Native American Mr. Game & Watch. We barely knee ye.
GOD DAMN TYPO!!! KNEW, GOD DAMN IT, KNEW!!! RRRRRRAAAAAAAGH! *throws a chair*
(I was gonna post a video of Chris Griffin throwing a chair that his mom was on but I refuse to use the shitty, too bright you can’t see anything video I saw.)
We didn’t need to knee him- Captain Falcon’s forward A does that enough already.
Joke aside, I still think it was a stupid thing to go after.
I heard about some Native American woman being killed today and I couldn’t help but think “I wonder how many people that got riled up over Mr. Game and Watch with a feather in his head throwing fire are also any of the same people upset a Native American was killed.”
So what if future updates bring back modes from previous games (Home-Run Contest) and the only reason it’s not in the base game is because they wanted to get the game out without delaying it like the past every other game? Splatoon got Clam Blitz in later updates, for example, so why not Smash getting new/returning modes?
There was a rumor from someone who claimed to be a tester for the game that a day one patch was coming with Home Run Contest and a couple other series staple modes. This was perhaps prior to the Game & Watch debacle, and it’s possible it could be in the same update or be pushed back. Of course, no one can affirm the validity of that statement until it does or doesn’t happen, and I’m leaning on the side of it not being true at the moment.
The thing is the patch is only for the physical, not digital, unless the digital already has it for whatever reason.
Considering how quickly the game came out, I’m not surprised.
