Super Smash Bros. Ultimate Has Been Updated To Version 1.2.0

It had already been announced by Nintendo yesterday that Super Smash Bros. Ultimate would be updated to version 1.2.0 soon. Well, the update has just been released, as well as the official patch notes. You will have an easier time unlocking playable characters, and your Online Preferred Rules will be “more highly prioritized”. You can see the full patch notes down below.

Offline Gameplay
・Adjusted difficulty of approaching challengers.

Online Gameplay
・When matchmaking in Quickplay, the Format setting of your Preferred Rules will be
more highly prioritized. This may cause matchmaking to take more time, and there’s
still no guarantee that you’ll find a match that has your exact Preferred Rules.
・Increased the stability of the synchronous connection within Battle Arenas.
NOTE: Online features require a Nintendo Switch Online membership.

Misc.
・Game balance adjustments.
・Various gameplay fixes.
・The fighters that had specific adjustments are listed below.

Adjusted Fighters
・Donkey Kong, Link, Kirby, Luigi, Ice Climbers, Young Link, Olimar, Toon Link, Villager, Greninja, PAC-MAN, Duck Hunt, and Isabelle

Compatibility Notes
・To use online features, your software must be updated to the latest version.
・Local Wireless is not compatible between version 1.2.0 and earlier versions. Please make sure that all players are using the same version of the software.
・Replays created in versions before 1.2.0 are not compatible with 1.2.0. If you have replays you want to keep, you’ll need to convert your replays by going to Vault → Replays → Replay Data → Convert to Video before updating the software.

  1. I had a tough time with . Luigi, simon, daisy, mewtwo , and palitaina , too bad this patch didn’t come sooner .

  2. Glad to see Lucas or Ness haven’t been touched yet. They can be absolute monsters (definitely far from the strongest in the game though).

  3. Thank God they fixed the matchmaking. Played a bunch of matches 1on1 today and not one was a ffa. Now they need to add a way to switch characters before and after a fight. Can’t really talk about the character changes besides splatgirl, Sideb special is crazy op imo there’s barely any lag between taking the roller out and putting it away and you can use it midair making it really easy to spam. Isabelle’s fishing rod is dam annoying too not sure how it is now post update tho.

  4. Damn. If I’d known it was coming this week, I would have used my free week to test out the online before the update then after it. Oh well. Enough people aren’t happy with the online so I’ll take everyone’s word that it was shit before this update.

    1. Paid Online been sucking since it launch the people who purchase it on day one could tell you that so yeah it was obviously bad before the update, heck smash online pairing has lag like usually which is weird since I play splatoon 2 online and no lag a slight disconnection but no lag same goes for the rest of main title switch games except smash I guess it’s just a demanding game with everything pack in

  6. It’s nice to see some patch notes from Nintendo, but for the love of God can we please get some actual details on nerfs/buffs??? Knowing that they changed a character isn’t enough info!
