The number one game for Christmas in the biggest video gaming market in Europe has been revealed and it is Red Dead Redemption 2. The game will will be under most gamers Christmas trees tomorrow. Nintendo’s Super Smash Bros Ultimate on the Nintendo Switch is holding steady at number five and Mario Kart 8 Deluxe is following close behind at number seven.
Super Smash Bros Ultimate was one of the only games to dip in boxed sales in the Top 20 this week, which is to be expected for a recently released game (it only arrived three weeks ago). The mascot fighting game dropped 24 per cent in sales and slips to No.5. However, its sales have now surpassed Splatoon 2 to become the UK’s fifth most successful Switch game, and it’s only be around three weeks.
The other Switch game in the Top Ten is Mario Kart 8: Deluxe, which falls two places to No.7 after an 11 per cent sales dip. Nintendo’s game has benefited from some hardware bundling this Christmas. The game is the No.1 selling Switch game in the UK by a large margin, ahead of Super Mario Odyssey, The Legend of Zelda: Breathe of the Wild, Pokemon Let’s Go and Smash Bros.

Rdr2 is a good game, but I stopped playing it half way through and just can’t put my switch down.
I’m just absolutely loving smash bros.
My favourite game since botw easily.
#5 for Smash Ultimate is still a good spot. I expect sales to possibly drop further, though. They’ll most likely go back up once the DLC starts rolling in.
My issues with the movie aside, Into the Spider-Verse is probably helping Marvel’s Spider-Man get a nice push in sales this month.
Not that I love that Spider-Man game, but it is pretty decent. Merry Christmas to you!
I still haven’t played Red Dead Redemption 2 yet, because I’m STILL playing Assassin’s Creed Odyssey. I’m starting to wonder if I’ll ever see the end of it. And I don’t even have any of the DLC. Such a huge game.

Merry Christmas! Did you get a new TV so you can play without any interference?
Sadly, no. I’m still having to look at that annoying 3″ wide black spot on my screen. I’m thinking I might end up having to buy a cheaper TV than any that I’m wanting (I usually buy SONY). I could get a new one right now if I just settled for a different brand. I hate how SONY seems to be the highest brand. Ugh!
LG is quite good if you give it a try!
