    1. I thought it was going to be him without a doubt, but then people started talking about Incineroar all of a sudden.

      1. I love both Incineroar and Decidueye. I find the former a great fighter and good with combos. But sometimes I feel like he sucks at recovery and so slow. Anyway, that doesn’t stop me from loving and playing this character.

  1. I’m glad. Already was added to Pokken tournament DX so good to have a different one. Decidueye was very cool in Pokken though, I used it all the time.

    1. Pikachu, Lucario, and Charizard are all in Pokken as well- there’s no rule saying a Mon can’t be in both games just because one was a thing before the other. I for one would welcome Decidueye to the Smash roster.

  2. I’ll admit I am sad Decidueye wasn’t chosen as he is my favourite Gen 7 Pokemon but at the same time Incineroar did deserve some spotlight that Decidueye already got in Pokken Tournament so I’d say it balances out.

      1. No, I’m not a murderer. I just would have been more disappointed. I was sick of everyone thinking Greninja and Decidueye where going to replace Squirttle and Ivysaur.

  3. Same people also asked why Sceptile wasn’t in Smash Wii U and 3DS? And I tell them to go play as Sceptile in Pokken Tournament. Sceptile plays a lot better there and Sceptile has a cool mega. Basically a rocket gecko. lol

  4. Honestly wish they’d gone with Decidueye. Incineroar’s fun, but Decidueye would’ve been a much more unique fighter to battle with. I, personally, wouldn’t be entirely upset to see him as DLC, even though he’s far from my top choice.

      1. I don’t know. So far I don’t like any of the DLC choices. I don’t plan on spending money on Piranha Plant or Joker.

      2. Yeah, we are getting characters who have made an impact on gaming as a whole. So likely no more filler Nintendo characters. They will likely also be from series not represented by spirits.

  5. It’s a beautifully drawn Pokemon, it has some charisma. There are so many bird’s species in Pokemon.
Still I find Pikachu, Charmander, Squirtle and Bulbasaur more charismatic. I haven’t liked the stop they gave to Charmander, Squirtle and Bulbasaur in game (unlockable through missions), I wanted to catch them early in the game, they are too rare.

  6. I wanted Decidueye more but, after playing as Incineroar… I’ve got no complaints. He’s a fun brute and a heel.

Of course, I’d say “Why not do both?”

  7. Decidueye almost got in!? FUCK!!! If Incineroar wasn’t such a letdown final evolution, I’d have been okay with Incineroar but he sucks. Just another annoying ass bipedal fire starter final evolution. As if we don’t have enough of them! The last one that was four legged was Typhlosion & even he has gone a bit into the bipedal route recently.

But since Incineroar is another sad little bipedal starter fire final evolution letdown, fuck him. Least I can enjoy beating the shit out of the loser when I do play Smash, though!

    1. I guess he was afraid to add both as that would set a precedent because then people would expect two new Pokemon from new gens with every Smash game. Not to mention they would have asked for a second Pokemon from past gens to appear, too. Only Gen1 is given multiple Pokemon from that gen a place in Smash as a fighter. The rest get Pokeball’d.

      1. And yet Sm4sh got 3 new Fire Emblem characters, and a friend of mine mentioned a rumor that one of the DLC characters for Ultimate will be from the upcoming Fire Emblem: Three Houses. If the Smash roster is going to be oversaturated by any series, I’d prefer Pokemon over Fire Emblem because at least Pokemon has more ideas beyond “swordfighter.”

          1. I could argue that if they had let Chrom use a spear (he can use them and still use Falchion if he reclasses into a Great Lord) that could have made him just unique enough to not be an Echo. He could have thrown it like a javelin which would have made him another rare FE fighter with a projectile.
