Super Smash Bros. Ultimate Has Been Updated To Version 2.0.0, Piranha Plant Now Available

It was confirmed to be on the way earlier today, and now it is here. Super Smash Bros. Ultimate has received a brand new update that puts the game at version 2.0.0. A lot of rebalancing has been done in the game, as well as big fixes. However, the biggest addition of all is the arrival of Piranha Plant. Although Piranha Plant isn’t available to purchase as DLC yet, those who have redeemed their Piranha Plant Smash Ultimate codes before January 31st will be able to play as the fighter now. The patch notes are down below.

  • Offline
    • You can now play Spirit Board with up to four players.
      • Select the spirit you want to challenge on the Spirit Board, and then go to Party → Fighter to select the number of people who will play. When playing with multiple people, you will lose the battle if any player is KO’d.
    • The following spirits will now appear in the Shop.

    • We adjusted the calculation for Global Smash Power.

    • Added the DLC fighter Piranha Plant.
      • Piranha Plant will become available for purchase as DLC at a later date.
    • Pressing both jump buttons at the same time will now cause you to short hop.
    • Fixed the issue where the KO score included your teammates’ KOs when Team Attack was On.
    • Game-balance adjustments.
    • Various gameplay fixes.

  1. Awesome! The long wait for Piranha Plant has finally come to an end. I knew Version 2.0.0 will include Piranha Plant. Many Smash players have been excited for its arrival. I just hope they got the Piranha Plant Smash Ultimate codes before January 31st. Otherwise, I guess this means another wait for the DLC version.

  2. They need to fix Donkey Kong’s stupid carry + throw bullshit. Even at just 30%-40%, it takes WAY too long to mash out of it, and he can just carry and throw you right into the blastzone, AND still recover from it. Dumbest crap in the game at the moment. Either nerf his recovery so he has to take a stock too, or nerf his carrying BS.

    1. Go watch Beefy Smash Doods video on mashing, because you clearly don’t know what you’re doing. I can mash out well above that percent in like 1 second. As a DK main, I actually think it’s almost too easy to mash out, making it kind of a pointless move. At percents where a half-decent masher can’t escape before any sort of “BS” takes place, a back throw will likely kill anyway. Plus, if you mash out off stage you’ll probably end up accidentally (or intentionally) footstooling him and taking the stock. He can’t recover from it.

      1. Edit: I mean it’s a “pointless move” in terms of the “BS” you are speaking of (like stage spiking and carrying you way off stage) because of how risky it is. Cargo up throw is still pretty good at starting small combos.

  3. I wonder if they are able to fix online character selection after matches and overall matchmaking hate playing those battlefield stages, omega all the way. Those are my biggest gripes with the game right now.
