Japan: Famitsu Most Wanted Nintendo Games For January 17th – 23rd, 2019

Every week, Famitsu asks their readers what Nintendo games they are looking forward to the most. Afterwards, they release a top 13 chart with the results. This time, the data comes from the period between January 17th and 23rd. Once again, Doubutsu no Mori is at the top spot with 448 votes. Doubutsu no Mori, if you didn’t already know, is known as Animal Crossing in western regions. The full results are down below.

  1. Animal Crossing (Doubutsu no Mori) hoards nothing but greatness. I see no reason why it doesn’t deserve the number one spot. This game orinally made a debut for N64. It’s amazing how it survived and will even make it to Switch. Nice!

    1. Considering the fact Japan absolutely HATED Pokemon LGEP by bombarding it with the most negative reviews that Amazon’s Japanese site had to disable reviews for it, the fact that the developers at Game Freak have stated “developing for Switch is 5 times harder” and the fact Japan has always had plenty of other monster collecting RPG genre of games to play that they love hugely such as Shin Megami Tensei and Yo-Kai Watch, it’s hardly surprising they aren’t looking forward to it as much as other things.

  2. And yet we know absolutely nothing about most of the big name titles on this list, like Fire Emblem or Luigi’s Mansion.

    Some kind of Direct that tells us more is kinda mandatory at this point, I would say.
