Nintendo’s Shuntaro Furukawa talked a little more about Nintendo Switch Online in the Q&A segment of the company’s investors briefing. Furukawa said that “retention is critical”, and that Switch Online “contents will be enhanced throughout the year”. Furukawa didn’t clarify what these “contents” are, it is being speculated that this may be the highly rumored SNES games that may be coming to the online service. In the meantime, Furukawa said that Splatoon 2 and Smash Ultimate have been really helping the online service. Two tweets relaying the news can be seen down below.

  1. give us normal voice chat, normal messaging, snes & n64 games, dedicated servers, etc if you want to keep retention

    1. Don’t forget Gamecube, Sega Dreamcast, Sega Saturn, Sega Genesis, Game Boy, Game Boy Color, and Game Boy Advance games.
No Cellphone needed for voice chat, Cellphone COMPLETELY optional.
      Unlimited Cloud Storage.
      And an Achievement System.

  2. You guys already had a full year to make it atleast comply to the standard of todays online services we cant even send an invite or even a message to friends . ARE YOU SERIOUS?

  3. SNES games being added is obviously going to happen eventually.. hopefully a messaging system, and maybe real party chat. Themes too? They haven’t added anything new to that since launch. Still just black and white. If they’re going to add all of this stuff though, especially something like dedicated servers, I see them upping the price. Or just having an optional premium plan that gives you access to the SNES games, party chat, and free themes. Just seems like too much to expect for $20. The only thing I’m truly expecting this year is SNES games.

  4. n64 games! Messaging service! Better voice chat(without freaking phone)! Better exclusive items(we basically just got one shirt…)!
