  1. It’s crazy how, despite going into these Directs with zero expectations, Nintendo still doesn’t fail to disappoint.
Mario Maker 2 was the only game I found interesting, and that one only made up the very first minute of the entire thing.

      1. Not a real Zelda fan if you think that looks bad.

Looks amazing and perfect art design for bypassing the 3D effect from A link to the past game on 3DS.

They used the pikmin 3 engine for that 3D box in effect.

      2. I always wanted a sequel of Mario Maker and an HD Zelda remake. It seems Nintendo has finally made my dream come true. I am, we are getting Mario Maker 2 and The Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening. And that’s how Nintendo shows genuine love this February! Caps off!

      1. Mario Maker 2 was the only game I found interesting, and that one only made up the very first minute of the entire thing.

Alright let’s totally ignore your negativity about the direct and how Mario is the only gooooood thing on e Fire emblem direct, omg you are so cute. Maybe can be friends ?

        1. It wasn’t a Fire Emblem direct as it wasn’t the main focus of it. Learn the difference between featuring & focusing. Nintendo never announced the direct would focus on Fire Emblem: Three Houses but announced it was gonna be featuring in the direct. Dragon Quest XI S got just as much time as Fire Emblem: Three Houses. The only one that thinks this was a Fire Emblem Direct is you, bub.

          1. And yet I was. You remind me of these fools telling me Carboard was for adults and totally ignore Nintendo message it was for the kids. It’s like you know better than Nintendo Itself. Just stop, you lost and now you are on a vengeance. I bet you gonna attack me everywhere now in the future and constant circle jerk with others and giving likes for everyone who attack me. IT’s always some boring poop with folks like you.

            1. If you want to believe this was a Fire Emblem Direct when it clearly wasn’t as Dragon Quest XI S got the same amount of attention & the highlights took up most of the Direct’s time (not Fire Emblem,) that’s your problem. Just remember: De Nile isn’t just a river in Egypt.

  2. dissapointed lugi’s mansion 3 release date wasn’t mentioned and neither metroid prime trilogy. dough bowser says all the content covered in the direct it’s going to launch this year but they forgot to cover luigi’s mansion 3.

    1. Nintendo need to keep a few magazines in the barrel… If you know what I mean…

They can save all the “No-Shows” for later…. Honestly, I’d prefer to see their bigger games at E3

      1. You are arguing with a fool. Nintendo told us yesterday it was a Direct with focus on Fire emblem.
Only one day later and here we are the fools crying it was not Metriod Direct and some straight up ports.

The wii cost like 50 dollars online, buy that and play your Metriod trilogy and actually finish and notice how it’s really not that great shooter.

  3. All the rumors ended up true except for Metroid. For that reason I’m sure it’s coming. How could it not? It was a good Direct though imo even if I only got really excited for Zelda. I know there’s other games I’m getting this year like Luigi’s Mansion 3 and Doom Eternal. Maybe even Pokémon if it looks really good.

    1. It was a fire emblem direct or did you straight up ignored original source ( Nintendo ) and just went with the click baiters ?

tell us more about Metriod Zzzzzzzz

  4. My reaction:

Super Mario Maker 2: STARTING WITH A BOMB.
    Marvel: Not interested
Box Boy & Box Girl: Interesting
    Smash Ultimate Update: Stage creation?
    Captain Toad: Cool update
Bloodstained: Finally we can play this game
    DQ: Not interested.
StarLink: *Insert Etika scream* OH MY GOD. OH MY GOD. THIS GAME IS A STAR FOX GAME NOW
    fantasy japan games: Not interested
    Yoshi’s Crafted World: Looks amazing
Fire Emblem Three Houses: There are some features that makes the game interesting and it doesn’t seems a Fates 2
Tetris 99: With all the many version of this game I’m interested in this one.
    Scary horror game: Mmmm ok
Deltarune: Well there is Undertale so… you know.
Daemon X Machina: This games keeps better and better.
Racing game: I though it was F-Zero
Realistic game: Is this the game who got so many trophys?
    Astral Chain: AMAZING
The Legend of Zelda Link’s Awakening: An interesting approach on this game.

This direct wasn’t weak as many people wrote.

    1. I like how you referred to Hellblade as realistic game… Shows that a lot of the games on the Playstation are fully focused on graphics… At least Hellblade has decent combat.. But my friends say its not replayable

      1. PS4 is just a DVD player that also plays interactive movies.

None of these folks developed gamer skills on these machines and get rekt with a Nintendo console in their hands.

        This is a fact.

    2. Nintendo announce Direct with focus on Fire emblem, everyone just ignores Fire emblem and cries about a Metriod Wii port.

Just shows you the power of youtube and how these folks get fooled every direct by these click bait you tubers who use reddit as source and just straight up BS.

  5. No Bayonetta, No Metroid, No Luigi’s Mansion, No Animal Crossing, No Mother 3, No TOWN, No Pokemon, No Persona, No SMT 5…
And Yet…. Nintendo blows me away with Astral Chain and HellBlade…..
Mario Maker 2 is the Bomb
    Assassin’s Creed 3 and Unravel 2 confirmed
    Rune Factory 5 Confirmed
Fire Emblem is looking real good
    That Yoshi game is Juicy
    Daemon X Machina looks cool
    And Boy….. Links Awakening

Not the best Direct but I’m hyped

    1. Zzzz stop crying about Metriod, they already told us it’s a restart and you can play the other ones on Wii, a 50 dollar hardware system. If you are so obssesed.

When Metroid comes out you will cry about something else, never enough.

I remember people crying for years about a Majoras’s Mask 3D version and hooooow disappointed they where every direct Zzzzzzzzzz

      1. Seriously, people think they are the only person Nintendo needs to think about and that everyone has the same taste as them =b the direct was chalk full of game announcements and only a couple where releasing after the summer. The games people are complaining where not there are obviously August to December games as most games shown where set for March to July. But people are too short sited to see that.

        1. It’s not a problem of games it’s a problem of expectations. People always have high expectations and when they don’t get what they want they immediatly start to say it’s a bad direct.

+ leaks are just another things that gives much more expectations and in the end not everything from leaks were announced.

    1. So dumb, I thought it was one of the best directs in a long time. Many varied games, getting a zelda remake in the old school way it was played that a lot of people never got a chance to. Crazy how people get disappointed

  6. That was kind of bad. After the Mario Maker 2 announcement, I thought, “Wow! That was only the first thing?! This is gonna get better?!” Nah, it kind of progressively got worse to the point where there was a blank stare on my face when Link’s Awakening was on. Please don’t murder me, just my opinion.

      1. Oh yeah, oops sorry I forgot, you ignore me …

Because you aren’t smart enough for an debate so you do childish stuff like ignoring.

I bet you hate free speech.

    1. And You are very well entitled to that opinion… Many people are calling it DLC Direct… But for me…

Astral Chain is an exclusive game from Platinum… After missing out on MGS Revengeance, Vanquish and Nier Automata, this game is a welcome addition to the Switch library… The combat looks dope.

HellBlade was marketed as a PS4 exclusive… To get such a high quality game on the Switch is a huge statement

The Zelda game looked charming but I really didn’t really jump for that

All in all…. The Direct wasn’t the best… But it’s great considering it’s the first Direct for the year… There’s a lot more to come

  7. The couple disappointing things about the direct was no prime trilogy and anyone hyped for SNES online games have been lumbered with Tetris.
    Direct was pretty good though.
Only feb so plenty of time for animal crossing and Pokemon directs later on.
And hopefully a promising e3 where there will surely be some bayo 3 footage!

  8. Very good Direct 3 free games. Trying out Robot thing and Yoshi plus a free Battle Royale from Nintendo ( Tetris )

THANK GOD TETRIS IS NOT FROM EA THIS TIME !
But originally from Nintendo and Tetris company.

This direct was all about Fire emblem and I look goooooood. Not sure about the students. 😅

  9. Awesome Direct! Looking forward to so many games and Nintendo still has a ton up their sleeve they need to discuss, reveal, and announce.

  10. Switch_Needs_A_New_Mario

Absolute garbage!Nintendo really are running out of ideas!
    Another Zelda remake?Lol!
    Mario Maker 2?LMAO!
No Metroid Prime trilogy?Just proves Nintendo don’t care bout screwing over their fans after they lied about Prime 4 development when Reggie said it was coming along nicely…..then gets delayed for at least 2 years!Pathetic.
Where is Mario Kart 9?New F Zero?Super Mario Galaxy 3?New Excite Bike?New Pilotwings?
Nintendo should be pushing other 3rd parties for Shenmue 1 and 2 collection for Switch, A new Contra game, just to bring more appeal.
Again no news of SNES or N64 games for online service is a disgrace!
Switch nearly 2 years old and these should have been available from day 1!
And to the people who say E3 in June like so what?Nintendo has had trash E3’s the last couple of years, then won E3 with a teaser logo for Metroid 4…..then 2 years later it’s gets delayed for a further 2 years.
Next year PS5 and new Xbox will be released and developers will all turn their attention to those.
Unless Nintendo readies a smaller slim version of the Switch and then a brand new more powerful revision that developers can easily develop for with no issues then they never going to get the likes of Red Dead Redemption or GTA type games.
Why u think so many people are hacking their switches so that they can play SNES, N64, Dreamcast,Megadrive games etc on it?
If these had been ready from day 1 there woujd be no need to hack the Switch.
Reggie needs firing for all his lies.

  11. Kind of a Trash direct. Zelda was the only game that seemed to peak my interest [This seemed to be the same for Majority of people in the LIVE chats too].

With Metroid Prime 4 in ‘Development Limbo’, the only game I am TRULY looking forward to is Animal Crossing. The new Zelda needs a bit more showcasing to have my trust in it. When the MainlinePKMN game showcases, then turns out to be just a carbon copy of your bland PKMN game, then I will have ZERO interest in it.

I have not touched Smash Bros Ult for more than a month now… it is such a boring game [sorry, not sorry]… I don’t give a crap about characters — the only way I will pick this game back up is if I see REAL content added.

With no updates about the quality of the Nintendo online services within the realms of content and versatility, I don’t find myself truly enjoying their services. I did not expect them to talk about the XBoxLive deal, as that is still likely being processed but if that processing turns out to be the reason as to why there was no talks about the quality of current online functions, then they are excused [so long as there is some major improvements].

    1. It was a Fire emblem direct with filler in between …

Did you actually read the Nintendo Announcement yesterday ?

Or did you BS yourself in your head with fantasy stories from youtube click baiters.

Cry more dude, it was fire emblem direct and It looks good gameplay wise and graphical.

Maybe you aren’t smart enough to appreciate Fire emblem and need to go full retard like your average Fortnite bus jumper doing some dance while pooping out of your mouth

      Dance for me kid

  12. SUPER excited for Mario Maker 2. Yoshi’s Crafted looks alright, might go in on it. Link’s Awakening looks… strange but not a turn-off. I have no interest in anything Dragon Quest or FF or any of those anime RPG games. Star (Fox) Link looks very appealing to me now.

With the way they mentioned Smash Ultimate going 3.0 in April, it makes me wonder what else will be part of it besides Joker, his stage (betting on it now- his stage is the casino Palace in the game’s opening/late game), and P5 music. Maybe… the return of the stage builder?

Dead by Daylight is a big surprise. I think I’ll pass on Box Boy. FE: Three Houses doesn’t look bad but its art style gives me Xenoblade 2 vibes, which makes me iffy since XC2’s style isn’t as appealing to me as the original game’s or X’s styles. Tetris 99? Well since it’s free for NSO subscribers, I may as well indulge…

Shame there was no Luigi’s Mansion 3, Bayo 3, or Animal Crossing Switch news (though personally I will likely be skipping out on AC but Luigi has my attention; I’m indifferent about Bayo right now as I haven’t finished the first two games).

I’m not giving up hope for F-Zero. Nothing now, maybe E3.

    Direct 2-13-19: 7/10

    1. I just love, loooooove how you TOTALLY IGNORE Fire emblem on a Fire emblem focused Direct 👍🏻

Where the hell do you people come from, holy smokes.

      1. If you actually read my comment, you’d notice that I did, in fact, mention FE, and how the art style isn’t exactly my cup of tea. Perhaps you should read things more thoroughly next time, lest you miss something crucial in the fine print.

Now get lost- there’s only room for one Man of Something on this site, and it sure ain’t you.

            1. Definitely a troll. He’s been stalking all of my comments, including the ones that had nothing to do with him on other articles, all day while I’ve been away playing Kingdom Hearts: Dream Drop Distance on my PS4. So much for ignoring me. lol I told him stalking is the total opposite of ignoring someone.

      2. Oh look it’s Overlord Ridley, the name alone.

TOTALLY not biased about Metriod hype, sure buddy. Still crying about the Fire emblem direct they didn’t announce Metriod 5.

By the way calling other people names is against the rules here kiddo.

It’s not because you have no argument you need to resort to slander.

        Time for an apology.

        1. Like Namie said, learn some reading comprehension, bub. I said “being an idiot,” not “is an idiot.” But with how you can’t stop getting confused & still think this is a Fire Emblem Direct when the Direct spent less than 10 minutes on the game, maybe I should have said “is an idiot.”

        2. And I am hyped for Metroid, but I never said the direct was bad. It seems to me you are just mad at anyone that didn’t give Fire Emblem: Three Houses 5 out of 5 stars. So who is the one REALLY being biased here? Me or the guy that can’t stop being obsessed with Fire Emblem and attacking anyone that isn’t screaming Three Houses’ praises?

      3. @The Girl of Brisk, do you spend a lot of time thinking who is the man here on this site ?

It’s not because you can’t counter my argument you need to resort to slander.

Calling others is not an argument kiddo.

It’s a Fire emblem direct, cry more about your silly games.

      4. Just remind the herectic known as “overlord infinite ridley” how much of an horrible person he is…
He left his dogs to die in a fire because a PS4 was more important to him than the life of the dogs…

        What a waste of space…

        – Church of Sasori

        1. He is more busy drooling on realistic Pokemon from the new lame movie than actually feeding his pets.

          Overlord of kindergarden

  14. This was probably one of the worst directs in recent memory. DQ Builders and Mario Maker 2 looked like an exact copy of the first iterations of those games, yoshi looked fine but those games get so bland after a few levels. Don’t know why they were being so coy about smash when they had almost nothing to announce, and IM SORRY BUT LITERALLY EVERY OTHER GAME SHOWED LOOKED SO BORING AND GENERIC. Starlink, that platinum game, all of those looked so…. bleh. Just shit graphics and mediocre gameplay, and AC III Looked comically bad, who asked for one of the worst AC games to be ported onto a system that can barely run it.

Only high point of the direct IMO was smash update “news”, and the links awakening remake. Links awakening is a pretty ‘meh’ zelda but it’ll be fun and the art style is unique so I’d give this direct a 2/10. Mario maker was whatever too but nintendo, stop flooding the switch with these boring ass third party titles. Good lord nobody cares about whatever bland ass jrpg you think the neckbeards will buy, they’ve already bought it years ago on their pcs. DQ 11 was fine i guess but we already knew it was coming and it isn’t coming out until the fall so….. bleh

      1. Never played it. Only first one and it was very meh after 20 hours, same thing over and over again like all these PS3 games. With GPS in the corner. Do this, get that for another 30 hours and see ending.

Maybe 3 is better, doubt it. Still Ubisoft game. A French game, french can’t design good games.

        Stick with cooking.

    1. Eh. You’re untitled to your opinion but you should sell your switch because the lineup they showed is an indication of the kinda of games Nintendo consoles get. If these don’t excite you, you should just play on a platform that does.

  17. I can’t believe I still have to continue suffering without a Pikmin 4 announcement. I can see why the PS4 has gotten all of my attention in the past year +.

I also can’t believe that so many people love Fire Emblem. Those games always look SO boring to me. And the fact that I have a hatred towards nearly everything that looks anime-ish doesn’t help. Dragon Quest looks a hundred times more appealing.

The only NEW announcement that got me excited in this whole Direct is The Legend Of Zelda: Link’s Awakening. I never played any handheld Zelda game before the DS. So I’m looking forward to that. I wish they’d remake The Minish Cap as well.

Super Mario Maker has always been a cool concept. But my adult self can never see the point in those games. I would have LOVED them when I was a kid.

Yoshi’s Crafted World is a day one purchase for me. If it’s anywhere near as good as Wooly World, I know I’ll be happy.

Wasn’t Boxboy a Japan exclusive game? Why do they act like North Americans are familiar with it? I know that the Boxboy amiibo was a Japan exclusive. I was hoping they’d announce that it was releasing in North America, but alas, no word about it. I can’t afford that Boxboy amiibo bundle that I saw on ebay.

Well, back to my PS4. I long for the day that I can blow the dust off of my Switch and finally get my money’s worth with that console. So far it’s collected more dust than any Nintendo console. Good thing I keep it covered.

    1. What the hell do you play all day on your PS4 ?

It has no games, or do you still play RDR2 everyday following the gps in the corner with your horse for another mission.

      1. When the debate is lost slander is the tool of the fool. – Socrates.

Spamming cartoons here with text is not an argument.

You lost and can’t counter and resort to Twitter poop copy/paste crap.

You hate me now and are pretty biased. So I will ignore you from now on since you are on a vengeance
and don’t really have a argument anyways.

        So long kiddo. Xxx

          1. Funny you ask for ignoring me, yet you can’t stop replying to me like Every comment I make, you even talk about me when I’m not around in the comments. Xxx

            1. lol You were stalking my comments & making toxic, immature comments towards mine. I simply replied to those comments. And I was talking about you when you weren’t around because I was in a reply chain with Brisk & Namie that YOU were part of. If you don’t want people talking about you when you aren’t around, don’t put yourself into a conversation & then get upset when they mention you.

You are funny & entertaining, though, so I will actually continue responding to your comments toward or about me just to see how funny your reactions can get. Honestly, I like to troll the trolls. So in regards to you saying I’ve lost which implies you think you’ve won (lol), you really haven’t. In the Troll Game, no one really wins as both sides end up wasting each other’s time.

  20. Another day where Nintendo “fans” whine and complain because the tiny number of franchises they care about weren’t mentioned, while everyone else gets a giant pile of games to be excited for which will make Nintendo a truck load of money.

      1. You didn’t really think this through did you?

If Wii era gamers will love almost anything, why weren’t they there for solidly half of Nintendo’s consoles? Why weren’t they there to support Pikmin as it rotted on the shelf over multiple console generations? Why weren’t they there for the Wii U? The 3DS died at launch. Had to undergo a 33% price cut and start bundling games. Where were those Wii gamers who are so easy to please? The answer is they weren’t easy to please, you just didn’t understand the appeal of the console.

The Wii gamers were significantly more discerning in their tastes than the average gamer. When a console wasn’t interesting, they didn’t buy it. You by contrast buy a Switch and whine about it every day for what, a year now? 18 months?

      2. Most of the people who bought a Wii weren’t Nintendo fans. Besides if they will buy anything how the hell did Wii sell 100mill units and Wii u barely sold 10million if it even sold that many. And Pikmin series was underrated.

    1. Bruh I can already tell you ain’t Poké Master nor fan.

Every Poké fan knows the directs just like Capcom are always separate around march.

I want to speak with your manager

  22. Only 2 games really caught my eye: Astral Chain & Bloodstained. The rest were meh, already knew about them, or just didn’t care about at all. Unfortunately for Switch, however, only one of them is going to be a Nintendo Switch purchase for me; the other will be another PS4 buy.

*read the comments from the few Thought Police in here* There’s a lot of those running around the internet these days. Say something negative about Star Wars, Star Trek, Nintendo, PC Culture, etc & there is one of them losers running up to you, setting their pedestal on the ground, & standing on it so they can look down on you for your opinion and chastise you for it because you aren’t woke enough (or shill enough) to bow down to your superiors. *shrug* Whatever. The minority of lunatics on the internet will quiet down eventually once this fad starts to die off.

    1. As for Fire Emblem: Three Houses, I’m still not sold on it but I do like the school thing. Not many Fire Emblem games, as far as I can tell, have you playing as a neutral entity in a land that’s about to be stricken with war.

      1. I’m still waiting to see if this is a more fleshed out fire Emblem game that takes advantage of the console format, or a slightly prettier version of the 3ds games.

    2. 70% of your post is just slander and attacking other people.

Has noting to do with gaming nor the direct, just pure rage and salt.

Talk 2 your parents, it’s not our fault kid.

  23. My initial reaction was mixed with slight disappointment, but after reviewing what all I saw, it’s actually a pretty cool lineup. Hopefully the same happens to some of the other folks. BTW – Did anyone else initially think Astral Chain was a Virtual Cop remake? Haha, and I never really played that game…

  24. I’ll admit: when I saw shit like the Disney game and Box Boy I was a bit iffed, although my expectations weren’t that high to begin with. Things like Super Mario Maker 2 and Link’s Awakening didn’t catch my fancy too. But when I saw Astral Chain, Hellblade, the new stuff from Fire Emblem: Three Houses and Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3, my mood improved. All in all it was a good Direct, with many games coming out this year.

The key thing about Directs is: never create unrealistic expectations. I can add a second key thing: never trust leakers enough. I saw many people complaining about the lack of Metroid just because some leakers said that it would be a HD Trilogy announcement. I never expected Bayonetta 3, the new Pokemon, Animal Crossing and Luigi’s Mansion 3 to show up too; this is E3 stuff.

    1. Your second paragraph sums it up. People are disappointed because they have completely arbitrary ideas of what would make it a good direct based on no actual data. For all we know there’s a dedicated Animal Crossing/Pokemon/Whatever thing you’re waiting for direct in another month. Nobody has any idea what to expect beforehand, and the direct itself is never representative of everything Nintendo is up to.

      1. I’m still waiting to see Bayonetta 3 and SMT V footage, but I’m no rush. Animal Crossing was just revealed, there’s no way to them show something this early. People really needs to chill out. There’s probably another Direct before E3.

  25. Unfortunately I’m interested only about Yoshi and maybe Dragon Quest S; maybe Super Mario Maker 2 too if it includes a lot of levels because I don’t care about making my own levels (but it will eventually interest my children). Fire Emblem looks like a major letdown and 2019 the emptiest year for Nintendo Switch. Eventually they will announce Pokemon for a december release, though I’m unhappy: 2017 was much better. They really need to decuplicate their workforce since it’s clear that third parties are completely uninterested (only Dragon Quest as a major game is… well…); or just buy Capcom, PlatinumGames and Level 5…
Link’s Awakening doesn’t seems to sport the usual Nintendo’s quality, I’m not impressed.

    1. “Link’s Awakening doesn’t seems to sport the usual Nintendo’s quality, I’m not impressed.”

Based on what exactly? What did you see that was unworthy? I can’t understand.

      1. Did you actually watched the gameplay ?

I never seen someone making a box in game with so much detail in lighting and water reflections.

Not every Zelda game is Water painted. This game is from the 3DS team and you Cleary are dumb to believe the Zelda team will not deliver.

Maybe have some faith and look at the past how they never created a bad Zelda game.

        Sign I give up

      2. Looks dull, not a bad game per se but I don’t like the art style. That type of gameplay should eventually be accompanied by a more artistic approach. Even that 2D showed in this video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mctma5_Z7G0 looks more ‘in line’. I’m sure it will sell good to the portable crowd, anyway. I showed it to my children and they honestly didn’t liked, will see if they change their mind.

  26. First off: RUNE FACTORY 4 & 5!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Ok, now that I got that of my chest, SUPER MARIO MAKER 2!!!!!!!!!!
A sorry, I just got a little excited, like I did when they announced THE LEGEND OF ZELDA: LINK’S AWAKING!!!!!!!!!!
as for the rest of the Direct, well:
I’m not a big fan of the Fire Emblem series. However it has it’s good points.
The New Platinumgames game looks interesting.
It’s nice to see Captain Toad get some love.
    Not a racing fan.
Bloodstained looks like it will play similar to one of my favorite GBA games ever (Castlevania Aria of Sorrow).
Yoshi’s Crafted World is definitely tempting.
Dragons Quest Builders 2 is, wait… DRAGON’S QUEST BUILDERS 2!!!!!!!
And Dragon’s Quest XI is finally coming, it was ONLY the second game announced for the NX. I’ll be playing that.
I don’t really have much else to say about the rest of the Direct. Now excuse me while I play the DAEMON X MACHINA prototype.

  27. I wish they remade Phatom of Hourglass as well from the ground up and not using that stupid stylist to move Link or that ship. That’s the only reason I didnt finish the game. Who came up with that stupid Idea of using a stylist to move Link after Wind waker? That was stupid.
