I’m sure many of you remember the classic Turok which was a Nintendo 64 launch title. It was priced here in the United Kingdom at £70 during the Nintendo 64 launch which was a lot of money, but it was well worth it. It now seems that the game is coming to the Nintendo Switch courtesy of Nightdive Studios. It is listed on the Nintendo Canada website which says it is coming on the 18th of March and will cost $25 on the eShop.
Turok is back and no dinosaur is safe! When it was first released in 1997, Turok introduced gamers to a world teeming with cunning enemies, traps, puzzles and deadly weapons all within a vast 3D environment ready to explore. Now the classic game has been restored and enhanced with a new visual engine and exciting new features to sink your teeth into!
The Lost Land…
A world where time has no meaning – and evil knows no bounds. Torn from a world long gone, the time traveling warrior Turok has found himself thrust into a savage land torn by conflict. An evil overlord known as ‘The Campaigner’ seeks to shred the fabric of time and rule the universe using an ancient artifact known as ‘The Chronoscepter’. The Chronoscepter was shattered thousands of years ago in an effort to keep it from falling into evil hands. The Campaigner has constructed a massive focusing array which he plans to use to magnify and pervert the power of the Chronoscepter in order to shatter the barriers between the ages and rule the universe. Turok has vowed to find the eight pieces of the Chronoscepter spread throughout the Lost Land and put an end to The Campaigner’s evil plot…

What a weird release!
Our first N64 game on the Switch. Now that this is possible, it’s time for the other games!
I am fighting the urge to call you stupid.. but you’re not being smart.
This is not the actual N64 game, it’s an upgraded port of the PC version that was released around the same time as the N64 versoin, and which not long ago got upgraded and re-released on steam, now being ported to Switch.
It’s not some upgraded N64 port.. so don’t get your hopes up for other games.
That said, we might get some Rare games later on since Microsoft supposedly is releasing some of their IPs on the Switch later.
Well, excuse me! Hmph!
Fighting the urge to call someone stupid? That’s nasty and anti social, and reflects very poorly on you and your upbringing.
That was unecessarily rude
Sorry, guys. Michael here is one of our residential assholes. He’s almost always 100% serious. Oh & god have mercy on you if you like to role play a character because this guy HATES that. Big ol’ buzz kill, this guy.
I did a quick search & they mentioned Turok 2 will come later.
Anyway, son of a bitch! I just bought Turok 1+2 on Steam as they were on sale! *cries*
Haha I got them both on Xbox one a few months back, I paid £20 for both and it was worth it!
I paid about $11 for both.
Nothing wrong with the PC-version. Probably a lot cheaper as well. But oh sweet Portability… how much I do love you.
I’d rather play these originals on a Nintendo system. If I had known this was happening, I wouldn’t have bought them on Steam, cheaper or not. But thankfully I did only pay around 11 bucks so whatever. Least in the future when I get a proper gaming laptop, I can compare the two games for myself instead of relying on another source.
Good thinking
You should lookout for some of the Ryzen laptops with Vega graphics inside.
I’d like one of those to replace my current pathetic laptop.
The only good laptop is no laptop, if you want to be a serious PC gamer; I’d reconsider that decision before the lament sets in. Go with a desktop, in the long run it will be far better than any laptop you could buy, is more bang for your buck for the same or better performance. Seriously, laptops cost a lot more for less and are not very up-gradable. If you go the laptop route you are only setting yourself up for headaches and disappointment down the road. Take it from me a PC gamer who has owned both, laptops are garbage. I have never had one that had a life span longer than a couple years, not only that but their batteries are abysmal, won’t hold a charge after a few months of normal use, the chargers are always breaking, and if you try to use it like it’s name might suggest you will end up with 2nd degree burns on your lap.
The only reason to grab a laptop over a desktop is the “portability” I put that in quotations because anyone who has ever seriously used a gaming laptop will tell you that they do not really qualify as a portable, other than having a screen built in. You’re still going to need a big case to lug it around, along with all its accessories, because no one who calls themselves a real gamer can legitimately use the keyboard and touch pad built on to the laptop. You have to bring a separate mouse and keyboard and pad for the mouse, and headset, and speakers, and find a table to set the laptop on near an outlet with its charger, because it will definitely need to be plugged in if you are gaming on it. You might set it on the floor, but you will end up finding a table to move it too and a chair to set in once you realize how uncomfortable it is to try to sit and game like that. By the time all is said and done, you basically have a desktop set up, that you carried nearly just as much stuff around for, but it’s half the power of a desktop that you could have bought for the same price.
So honestly I just don’t see the point, or the appeal of these things. You are honestly better of going for a small form factor gaming PC, it will be nearly as “portable” as a laptop with the exception that you have to carry one more thing around with it; the screen. More importantly it’s a lot more customization, and you can actually throw a new graphics card in it down the line as better ones are released, a real graphics card, not a mobile one like what is featured in a laptop.
I use both laptop and desktop. The portability aspect was related to Switch.
I know you meant the Switch, I was replying to Overlord Infinite Ridley, but it wouldn’t let me reply to them directly for some reason. The said they are going to get a gaming laptop, I was merely advising against it.For portability the Switch is superior to any laptop. Well obviously not taking power into account.
Agreed. And btw: if you use the WordPress-app you won’t have any issues with replying spesific comments.
It’s going to look better than Ark on Switch.
I still have nightmares of that port…
I literally juat finished playing this on my switch. It was a fun game.
…It hasn’t even come out on the Switch yet.
Retroarch!
He’s saying he emulated on a jail broken switch..
I know what Retroarch is. But, what is the point of playing one that is inferior to a brand new version? Besides paying $20
This is awesome. I love this game. I wonder why this wasn’t teased in the Direct.
Maybe it wasn’t fully ready for the Switch? Or people likes to keep it for a later surprise.
$25!!???!!???!!???!!???!!??
I remember Turok evolution on the game cube.
It wasn’t a highly rated game, but I loved it.
I-it’s an HD remake, right?
It’s being released by Nightdive Studios who’ve made the HD remasters for other systems, so yeah, it’s the HD remake.
(I could end up being wrong, though.)
LOL I was about to say that you were wrong after looking at the eShop page of it, but then I realized: it just looks really really bad.
Can I have Banjo-Kazooie on the Switch then?
theyve given that game away like 3 times lol. got Rare Replay like 2 or 3 years ago after that one big MS e3, then through gold, at some point, and then Rare Replay ended up being on Gamepass.
Not to mention that Kazooie and tooie constantly go on sale for about $5 each.
Same. I need to play 2 of the greatest games of all time on one of the greatest systems of all time.
Grunty loves to see, how Starfox is bagging for me. You know you cant resist thee. If it was up to me, I give to you a freebie.
now we all need Turok 2 – Seeds of Evil to come out on switch as well :)
It will. Other articles mentioning Turok 1 coming to Switch also mention that Seeds of Evil will come later.
The 1st game I ever got on my 64 , loved ever second of it.
100% a buy from me.
I loved this game back in my N64 days. I also loved Turok 2 even more. I never did play Turok 3 though. I’d never even heard about it until just last year.
