Sensor Tower: “Mobile Gamers Worldwide Have Spent Approximately $2,500,000,000 So Far In Pokémon Franchise Titles”

The Pokemon franchise has had a lot of success on mobile device, and the newest data from Sensor Tower explained just how successful it has been. According to Sensor Tower, “mobile gamers across the globe have spent approximately $2,500,000,000 so far on various Pokémon titles”. This data combines the revenue from 6 different titles, but Sensor Tower notes that just one game Pokemon GO, is to blame for the vast majority of the player spending. In fact, close to 98% of all player spending, or $2,450,000,000, has been for Pokemon GO. The remaining 5 titles, Pokémon Shuffle Mobile, Pokémon Duel, Pokémon Quest, Pokémon: Magikarp Jump and Pokémon TCG Online, achieved the other $50,000,000.

Out of these 5 titles, Pokemon Shuffle Mobile did the best. Sensor Tower says that the game “grossed about 10% or close to $25,000,000 of the total to date. It’s followed by Pokémon Duel, Pokémon Quest, Pokémon: Magikarp Jump, and the franchise’s first mobile iteration, Pokémon TCG Online”. As for Pokemon player spending by country, “the United States comes out on top with about 35% of all revenue or $875,000,000. Japan, birthplace of the franchise, accounts for 29% or approximately $725,000,000”. The 6 Pokemon titles have seen a combined install total of nearly 640,000,000 mobile users since 2014. Out of that number Pokemon GO has 550,000,000, or 86% of them. Pokemon Duel is in second place, with “slightly more than 39,000,000 installs”. Sensor Tower notes that “this figure isn’t inclusive of Camp Pokémon, a free ‘interactive experience’ app meant to introduce young children to the franchise”. Sensor Tower also said that “spending in Pokémon franchise titles on mobile surpassed $58,000,000 last month globally, which was about 30% more than their revenue in February 2018. 99% of that spending ($57,400,000) was in Pokémon GO”.
