Sonic Team’s Takashi Iizuka Says That He’s Only An Adviser For The Sonic Movie & “It’s Up To The Paramount Team To Make Something Successful”

We already reported about the Lad Bible interview with Sonic Team head Takashi Iizuka, but there’s another part from the interview that you should know. You see, Iizuka also commented about the Sonic movie. Iizuka said that “It’s not a SEGA movie – we’re not making it, or anything – and I’m only an advisor, really. But I do get shown things, and the [movie team] ask for my opinion. I’m also listening to what the fans are saying, and I’ll feed that back to the director – he, and the producers, are very interested in receiving that feedback. At the end of the day, it’s up to the team at Paramount to make something successful, but we’re all looking forward to seeing the finished movie”.

  1. it`s good to know they are listening. but geez, why would they even consider that sonic desgin was a good idea to begin with???

      1. No, it’s not that. Even if they weren’t fans, they could easily produce a design that looks like sonic just by looking it up. They’re actually fans of the older sonic generation, they got stuff right like sonics rings turning into portals from classic sonic which most modern fans don’t even know about. The problem is that it’s just what Hollywood does, make a lot of unnesscary changes to “translate well to the live-action movie.” Director also said “He’s not going to feel like a Pixar character would because I don’t think that’s the right aesthetic to make it feel like part of our world,” and that’s what every Hollywood director does. I bet the writers and developers concept on sonic looked really well until Tim Miller decided to change everything.

    1. I’m thinking it’s a result of higher ups meddling in affairs. The designers probably presented them with really nice designs but the higher ups will usually insist they know best because of their “marketing research”. But you never know. Everyone working on the project could just not be that into Sonic.

  3. I hate how cream the rabbit was replaced by omochao. Storm the albatross or chaos zero should have been on team rose. I won’t even play as big the cat and omochao. I will clone tails and knuckles so they can team up with Amy rose on team sonic racing.

  4. If they do change & improve (hopefully as the changes could always not be any better than the current design but at least they tried) the design, they’ll be looked at by people that have been shunned by Disney, CBS, etc for their criticisms of a movie they made with some respect because they actually LISTENED to the fans instead of blowing them off as trolls, manbabies, etc. Take lessons, CBS (Star Trek Discovery), Lucasfilms (The Last Jedi), HBO (Game of Thrones S8), & Marvel Studios (Captain Marvel). Don’t ignore fans just because they don’t agree with your agenda, ideas, whatever.

  5. After the Sonic movie, I want a purely animated Sonic movie that is a crossover with the 90’s Nicktoons (except Ren and Stimpy), three Oh Yeah Cartoons spinoffs, and Invader Zim.
